Originality / 68 distributor paint marks
« Last post by KurtS on Today at 03:59:07 AM »I have this nice original 68 distributor. It show how they painted the color ID stripe on it - it was clearly done with a gun, not a brush.
There is a fair amount of overspray from painting the engine. You can see the spot were the distributor clamp was located.

« Last post by GMAD_Van Nuys on May 12, 2025, 08:43:04 PM »I still have the tag when Edelbrock Balancing Service Co. balanced the assembly for my Ford 289 engine. Edelbrock marked the crankshaft "30403" with yellow paint and listed the following information on the tag:
Piston (wpl) - 21 7/8 oz.
Pin - 5 oz.
Rings - 2 1/16 oz.
Inserts - 2 3/4 oz.
Rod 19 1/4 oz.
I found this information about Edelbrock when they were located in El Segundo when I had them balance my engine assembly.

« Last post by 169INDY on May 12, 2025, 07:07:36 PM »Often times a Shop performing the Actual Crank work is different than most Auto Machine shops so They "Farm" out the work & are attempting to make sure yours comes back.
Kinda a Tracking sort of thing, Tags or attachments get swapped or lost and a Stamp is like a Tattoo of sort.
Chrome plater Wholesalers Couriers are notorious for switching parts (i.e. Bumpers)

I don't see an pics of the transmission or axle stampings.
It's not a bad looking car. But anyone interested should inspect very closely in person.

I would imagine that partial VIN should be by oil filter for 02A car amongst other things..
