Originality / Wiper motor stamping
« on: April 23, 2024, 11:36:24 AM »
Started working on my wiper motor and washer pump and I noticed a stamp on it.

It looks like a Julian date 287 66 so that's Oct 14, 1966.

Were wiper motors stamped like this? Is an mid Oct too early for an 11B car?

Restoration / Correct orientation power top relay
« on: March 20, 2024, 01:56:18 PM »
Good day,

What is the correct orientation of the power top relay on the firewall.

Likewise, is the wiring and other info for the power top in the AIM?

edit -the relay is in the AIM under C06 and the connectors should be orientated to the drivers side.

My last question is, should the two poles both be silver or one silver and one gold?

What are the correct finishes for these parts?

Rod that holds the brake pads to the caliper

The bolts that bolt the caliper halves together

The brackets that bolt to the caliper the hoses mount to

Thanks for the help, again.

I’m sure this is authentic but both of my hidden VINs have a 3 out of place. Was this common place?

General Discussion / 67 RS/SS w/AC blower motor wire
« on: September 13, 2023, 04:54:34 PM »
Good day,

I've got a 67 RS/SS with AC and my question deals with blower motor wiring.

On a non AC car there is an orange wire that is part of the engine harness that runs to the blower motor. On an AC car those wires are part of AC harness.

Does the engine harness on an AC car still have the orange wire or is it omitted when the harness is built.? If they use the same harness was anything done to the orange wire to terminate it?

I've looked in the AIM and it does show the orange wire routing and UPC 12 A9 shows the non AC wiring and UPC C60 refers to E1-7 for AC cars. E1 shows the AC.

I've attached a non AC pic to show the wire in question. I am aware that the wire in the photo isn't routed correctly. :) not my car

On my AC car the orange non AC wire was cut near the starter. I believe the harness to be original to the car.

I've got an AAW replacement and it has the orange wire on it. I'm just not sure what to do with it.

Originality / Smog Exhaust Manifold question 67 SS LOS
« on: November 07, 2022, 04:54:14 PM »
I'm trying to piece together all the smog parts for my NOV 66 build SS and I'm having issues identifying the correct exhaust manifolds. NCRS report says the car was first sold in CA at Mel Smith Chevrolet in San Luis Obispo. So everything indicates it was an RPO K19 car.

Are these manifolds correct? I look at a couple of sites and I believe they are but not a 100% on them. This is a Flint MV motor.

RH 3872730

LH 3892683

Likewise the dates appear to be OCT 10th and 12th of 66. I assume these would be good dates for an 11B car.

The pump I'm looking at is a 96132 dated 21662C.

Thanks for any help!

Decoding/Numbers / Trim tag authenticity

Came across this on FB. What’s everyone’s feelings on reproduction.

I read and looked at the photos contained in the http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#Brakes as well as the booster, master cylinder and valve sections of the websitte.

What I'm looking for is the correct routing of the brake lines going from the MC to the distribution block on a 67 with power disc brakes and AC. I'm fairly confident that someone has monkeyed with mine by putting a very long line on one of the ports going from the MC to the block.

Does anyone have a photo of factory original lines? Seems the only photos I can find are with the prop valve up by the distro block while mine is down on the frame.

Maintenance / Tach accuracy
« on: September 03, 2021, 04:52:46 PM »
I noticed that the factory tach in my 67 spins crazy numbers that I know aren't accurate. IE it will spin up to and past the 7k mark.

Is there anything to check or something to look at the fix the accuracy of the tach?

Maintenance / Hot air into car when HVAC off
« on: July 01, 2021, 09:25:04 AM »
67 with factory air

Once the engine is at temp, I get hot air into passenger compartment when the system is in the off position. I have to assume the blend door before the heater core is not sealing complete or the door is out of adjustment. The air is coming out of the vents and not through the firewall.

Is there any other reason this would happen?

Thanks!

Garage Talk / 500k for yenko Camaro without the original engine?

I know 67 Yenko Camaros are rare, but without the born with engine isn't this a bit much?

The dealer does seem to be a bit out of touch with their pricing on other vehicles as well.

Maintenance / AC plenum valve
« on: April 03, 2021, 02:36:54 PM »
As I'm working through the AC vacuum system on my 67 I have discovered that the plenum valve and flap assembly is missing.

I've got a restored piece ready to install but before I do could some one tell me what purpose this assembly served? Is to let fresh air into the system/cabin?

Is it possible to remove the cowl vent grill without removing the windshield trim? Obviously it will need to come off to install the new plenum valve assm.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Heater/AC factory wire question.
« on: March 28, 2021, 05:11:12 PM »
I see in the AIM C60/E7 there is a diagram and instructions to remove some wires. They appear to be heater wires.

Were these wires supposed to be removed at the factory if the car was an AC car?

My 67 is factory AC and appears to still have those wires.
