Originality / Plastic Rear Convertible Windows
« on: February 15, 2025, 11:15:32 PM »
I have only seen Regal Lite as the manufacturer of the plastic rear convertible windows. Usually there would be a second supplier. LOF was the main glass supplier with some also supplied by PPG. Was there another supplier for the plastic rear convertible window?

Date is Julian and cast into into the driver side of the MC. The front bale wire clasp obscures the first digits

General Discussion / Legends at MCACN
« on: December 12, 2024, 07:27:19 PM »
For anyone that visited MCACN this year - Was wondering what your thoughts were on the Legends display and Legends Judging. We had 3 great cars - 68 Yenko, 69 Yenko, 69 ZL1  This was our 2nd year at MCACN. Would like to hear what we could do better. How to make the display better. In the past, we did have a seminar to go over Legends judging. thanks

Any feedback on the Legends Judging and display? The ZL1 was a bit hidden. This year we moved to a better location and could have 3 first gen cars.  Hoping next year to have 4. What would anyone change in the display.  Can't have a lift, used the Vintage lift early Friday.

Restoration / Re: Show chrome plating Legends Judging
« on: March 21, 2024, 04:45:34 PM »
I don't think anything has ever been deducted for show chrome. Have seen deductions for scratches, rub marks, and fit. Nothing for being too shiny. Deductions are made for stainless fuel / brake lines. Legends Manual also doesn't say anything about deducting for show chrome. Would like to learn the source for this

Originality / Re: 1967 caliper hardware finishes
« on: February 24, 2024, 09:41:39 PM »
This is from the 1967/1968 Camaro Legends Judging Manual. Did not copy photos but the photos are in the Manual

Calipers are painted semi-gloss black.  All machined surfaces on the calipers will be unpainted natural metal. The calipers for 1967 and 1968 are a 4 piston design and carry a casting number of 5455533 on the outer half and 5455530 on the inner half.  There are two different brake line sizes found on the calipers. It is believed that the early 1967 used a 3/8 inch hex flare nut on the caliper for both right and left. The later 1967 and all 1968 used the 7/16 inch hex flare nut on the left side caliper and a ½ inch hex flare nut on the right side caliper. All of the mentioned lines use a 3/8 inch hex flare nut for the hose end of the spring wound steel line that connects the two together. The caliper is mounted using two 7/16 inch coarse thread black finish hex head bolts and lock washers. With the upper bolt retaining the semi-gloss black painted special bracket to secure the hose using a black “U” clip. The bleeder valve is silver zinc/cad plated and does not use any type of cap. The caliper brackets are yellow cad/zinc plated and numbered 3913798R and 3913797L.

No - Only 1968 cars had the sheathing. Kurt is right that it was also used in 1969 for cars with a rear speaker. I do not know if second gen cars also received this sheathing for the rear speaker. Also, do not know about other Chevy or GM models that might be a source

Dr. Sloan's Z28 and the 2 69 Camaros at MCACN were in the Legends judging program. The contact for the 1000 point Bow Tie class at the Nationals would be Karl Scheffy.   email bowtie@camaronationals.org

I have used the SEM textured on my dash. Should experiment first. Texture comes out finer or more coarse depending on how far away you spray.
