1967 - Orphans / Re: 7N221349 - L78 Block
« on: December 01, 2022, 02:09:33 AM »
I used to have a dealer ordered L78 Pace Car with VIN N221183 that was sold in Akron. Wonder if this might be a twin. Ordered too late to receive blue stripes.

There were at least 3 first gens that did not make it. One was a Legends car that was in an accident.  Weather kept my 69 Pace Car from going and being in the Maple Leaf Display. A COPO also didn't make it that was also going into that display.

My Pace Car and another 69 Camaro did not make it for the Maple Leaf Canadian display

Originality / Re: Original 1967-1969 Camaro lug wrench question
« on: October 25, 2022, 05:05:07 PM »
Yes - "O" stands for the Herbert Orr company. Have seen the letter "E" used.  There seem to be two styles of the lug part - a deep lug socket and a more shallower one for 1969.

They were 441 wiper motors

Thanks so much. That is what I was looking for. I have seen June cars with the 69 style. So maybe April, May, June the change occurred

I am referring to the plastic motor cover which is most prominent. But the entire housing is different. 67's used a long screw through the plastic while the 69 style used short screws to mount the washer pump. Looking at the back side, the 67 operated with a plastic or nylon mechanism while the 69 used a metal mechanism.

Originality / Re: Harrison air conditioner decal on evaporator box
« on: September 30, 2022, 01:15:22 AM »
From the 1967/1968 Camaro Legends Judging Manual - The evaporator assembly mounts to the firewall using black phosphate sheet metal screws with floating washer and black phosphate stamped sheet metal nuts. The evaporator box is a natural unpainted material similar to the taillight housings. There is an aluminum Harrison tag attached to the face of the evaporator.

Originality / 1968 Transition from 1967 style to 1969 style washer pump
« on: September 30, 2022, 01:11:59 AM »
There appears to be a transition during the 1968 model year from using the 1967 style washer pump to the 1969 style. Does anyone know or can help with when this occurred? The 441 wiper motor wad used but the 1967 style which bolted with longer screws through the plastic seems to have been used through at least February. Somewhere there was a change to the 1969 style which had a square type plastic cover and short screws mounted directly from the metal. thanks

67 Arms should be brighter than 68 and 69, noticeable at the knuckle

Hope the 69 and 67/68 Legends Manuals rank up there. Lot of work went into them

Originality / 1968 Disc Brake Pedal Pad
« on: August 19, 2022, 02:33:03 PM »
My understanding is that there was a transition in 1968 for the 4-speed disc brake pedal pad. Early cars did not receive the disc brake pad with the round stainless "Disc Brake" trim.  When was the transition? And also was there a similar transition for automatic disc brake cars?
thanks

Originality / Special spare tire hold down bracket
« on: August 10, 2022, 11:34:47 PM »
There was a special spare tire hold down bracket used when the tire was mounted face up I believe.  The jack base was mounted right side up also. This was used just below the wing nut. Have  not seen this in the assembly manual.  But in some jacking instructions. Any info about this would be appreciated.
