Restoration / Re: REAR LEAF SPRINGS PAINT
« on: September 27, 2018, 05:59:05 PM »
The rear springs weren't painted. They were a tempered metal finish, so yes they will look a bluish gray. Best way i have found is to use gun bluing to replicate the original finish. the retention brackets and plastic spacers are available new

Originality / Re: Under-Dash Heater Box

Rustoleum makes a textured black paint as well. Seems more like the original finish. But and a big but is how the paint is applied. Spray distance seems to matter for the textured paint

Issue that I have with a gas tax is that we already subsidize electric vehicles. Increasing the gas tax for road improvements would subsidize electric cars even more. Better way would be based on usage or miles driven if that could be accomplished. Last political comment or economic comment I will make

For New York - it is the expiration date. So my 68 has a license plate with a 69 sticker to be correct. But lots of people here use the sticker with the year of the car. Same with the inspection sticker

Thanks - Trying to find out more about the 69 Pace Cars used in these races. Great info that this car paced the race before the Indy 500.

Mosport Pace Car has different license plate

Thanks for posting. Tried the direct link without any luck. Will have to spend some time on their Facebook page. The St Jovite Pace Car looks to have plate # SJ or 5J 7306.

need to know what year you are restoring as there are differences in the finish between years

Sorry to hear about the posts being removed. I have volunteered to help the ACA plan for their special Pace Car and LE display at the nationals. Would like to get some of the NASCAR Pace Cars into the display. If you know of any of the owners please let them know and have them contact me. Show is June 21 - 23. Thanks

Have you posted this on the Camaro Pace Car site. Any better photos of that 69 Pace Car. Thanks

Restoration / Re: Dash suede paint
« on: January 25, 2018, 04:58:57 PM »
SEM makes a textured paint as does Rustoleum in spray cans. If you experiment with the distance that you are spraying I think you can replicate the suede finish. I used it on the heater under the dash and thought it came out fine. Heater also receives the suede paint. Trying to keep my original dash paint though.

General Discussion / Re: Dealer number
« on: January 10, 2018, 04:20:05 PM »
I also encountered a couple of questionable NCRS reports.  On  one car, the dealer on the NCRS form did not match the dealer on the Protecto-Plate. On the other car, the dealer was given as being 125 miles away from the original owner. Car with owner history, no paperwork.
