An outstanding example of why you should never give up.

Not a Trans-Am related ad but a rare ad for Nickey Chevrolet showing an unused funny car for sale plus their usual pitch for high performance cars.
Z-88?

Maybe I am late to this post but what does the ebay motors car 1967 z/28 have to do with this post it sounds legit?
It is a poster child for this thread.

Ok, am I correct in assuming that front suspension mounting points were stock from 66-68?  What was to be gained by changing them?

Robert Barg
Relocating the A-frame mounts would aid camber, caster, bump steer, center of gravity and wheelbase adjustments.

Here is the pic of engine bay. Every original paint white stripe car I've seen has the white on upper cowl area.
That is unique to LA built cars.

Robert,

Thanks for sharing that with Jon for us!

I seem to remember reading something about the windshield being slightly raked and the nose angled down more than stock. But those may have been tricks used on his Chevelle.

Originality / Re: To Cowl or not to Cowl

Just to buy a hood and store it seems like a waste if you are not going to change it and the paint as well. Hoods do in fact have date codes; good luck finding a correct one in usable condition, and if you do, expect to pay a lot for it. Unless you want to go back to stock look for your own satisfaction, enjoy it the way it is and let the buyer decide what he wants to do with the car. My guess is that you will spend more converting the car back than you will realize at resale.

Restoration / Re: Radius rod color

Hi Mike,

I agree, square bar without the snubber bracket or extra hole for it. I haven't found any pictures of unrestored round bars yet so I can't say for sure they were all black, but I would think they would be. I'll post if I run across some. Good luck!

The picture in Jerry's book (Definitive 67-68 Z's) on page 81 looks un-restored and black. Here is another I found on the internet.

Restoration / Re: tag on coil spring.
« on: July 13, 2012, 01:44:58 AM »
It makes sense that the tags were on the springs before installation, which is how the line identified them. And whomever was responsible for installing the tags put them on the top ring. Why reach down further than needed?
