Need a coil for a 69 Z. Are there any new ones out there worth buying or should I try and find a 55 year old original?

Thank you for that link but I am looking for input on whether the repop ignition coils are any good or do I search for an original one.

Coils can be tested to see if they are good.

I sold one earlier this year, it was the 270 - correct for the ZL2 hood.  I wasn't sure if it was any good. Sold it to a guy, he had it tested and it was good. I don't have any extras at this time.

I just bought a 270 coil , they are hard to find and an original one is expensive.

They were being repro'd for awhile - then no more.  Wonder why.

For the Sake of Conversation, it is Not just the Coil, but the accompanying Bracket that configures a C. I. Coil set up, the Angle of the Bracket is set back greater in an effort to "Clear' the Large Diameter air cleaner body. - Correct?

(Re. I used the Tip-Trick) from Chick to clear a 68 C.P. Air cleaner.

That's how I always understood it.  http://www.camaros.org/engine.shtml#coils

1969 application beyond 9/68 would be 270 B-R.

Only the 3,500 or so Z/28s built with the ducted hood used the 1115270 coil & bracket assembly.

Z/28s built with the standard production hood used the 1115298 coil & bracket assembly.

Would that 270 coil The Parts Place sells (no dash between the B and R) be correct in appearance for a 67 L48?  Did anyone have thoughts or experience on the quality of these repop coils?

bcmiller

As William stated - the 270 coil is only technically correct for the 1969 Z28 with ducted hood.
