Couldn't edit my previous post, gave up trying to upload photos here so put them in my photo gallery here.

Here's the current compilation.
67 has a calendar week code. 16 D 7 would be the 16th week of 67, day shift. 40 6N would be 40th week of 66, night shift.
The format changed in 68 and 69 to have the week counted from the beginning of the *model* year. The extended 69 model year used tanks dated for the 70 model year.
LOS and NOR data is intermixed and shows the same pattern.

67:

Question. if build date on cowl is 12B which is 2nd week December (Late 1968)and tank date is 18 69 which now I think stands for 18th week of model yr 1969.
Car was purchased new Jan 23, 1969. How can tank possibly be an orignal? I see on data on tanks real close to mine on dates. Am I messed up on reading my numbers or has tank been changed?

Thanks Kurt for the reply. I saw those numbers and figured my tank was right in that area. What I'm not understanding is how the tank is dated and how it applies to the production date. I've looked around find nothing that is making cense to me. The 18 69 tank date would have to have traveled back in time to be installed in 2nd week of December 1968. I know thats not correct. Close as I can find in description was that it would be 18th week of production year 1969. If guessing right I found reference of middle Aug, Sept as start of production so 18 weeks is 41/2 months which puts it in December if I go with middle August as 1969 production start. Then it would make cense. Any chance thats correct? Rookie on some of these things.

69 Gas tank production possibly began *earlier* than mid August?   do a little more research...?

12B was the 'projected build week' at the time the order was made; they didn't always come out perfect, so figure out the actual production date of your car (which can be estimated pretty closely from the VIN number).

Only speculation, but look at the dates in Kurt’s latest data summary for the likely cut-off point for the traditional model year when 69 production was extended:
07A 49 69
08A  1 70
Hints at resetting the MY week number at the beginning of August.
Based on that approximation, tank dates of week 17-18 fit in well with 12B December projected assembly, granted that the Fisher calendar does not necessarily align with annual calendar months.

You are confusing model year and calendar year. http://www.camaros.org/geninfo.shtml#modelyear

OK, back again. Trying again to see if I've figured it out yet.
12B = 2nd week December
Vin date chart on CRG is 9N551862 = November and 9N569987 = December
If those Vins are begining numbers for November and December than my Vin falls into roughly 3rd week November
My Vin 9N561885
Tank date is 18  69 which = 41/2 months from what I believe production model starting about August 1968
Then if my calculations are correct Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, 1/2 Dec  would fall roughly into my 12B build date
Looks good to me! Am I getting close to having this figured out? Thanks guys for trying to push me in right direction. Still a little slow but hope I've figured it out.

The numbers shown are END OF MONTH numbers, so you are off a month.   Your car was most likely built 2nd of 3rd week of December...

If all my numbers are right but go backwards on the 9N569987 to 9N561885 is approxamately 2 weeks. So then about end 2nd or begining 3rd week December? That then puts it right on cowl production date of 12B. Then if my calculations of 18  69 which is 41/2 weeks comes out to Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, 1/2 Dec  would fall roughly into my 12B build date. Don't know if I did my calculations right but looks like begining of 3rd week on vin? Now that I'm starting to slightly figure it out with everyones help it starts to make cense. Thanks all for excercising my brain.  ;D
