Not sure if you'd like to add this data into the new research topic thread, or start afresh, but there's quite a lot of contributions in this thread: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=13242.0;all

Tim,
Sorry, I had CRS (can't remember sh1t) and totally forgot that thread. I moved it into the correct forum, updated it, and deleted my topic. :)
Thanks!

I'm confused on date codes for jacks.  I have an original 69 jack that has a date of 8M stamped on the rivet.  What date, December of 68?

8M should be Dec 1968. They probably didn't use the letter "I"....Joe

I had to go and look it up again, but here's the explanation on GM-produced parts, from the 'numbers decode' section. Presumably the same date coding was applied to externally-supplied components:
Quote
For cast-in date codes on GM-produced iron and aluminum castings (engine blocks, heads, intakes, water pumps, etc.), the letter "I" was used for September, and the last month of the calendar year (December) was the letter "L". For stamped-in date codes on GM-produced components (alternators, distributors, starters, etc.), the letter "I" was not used - "I" was skipped, and "J" became September, with December being "M".
