General Discussion / 68 z/28 302 spark plugs
« on: June 07, 2021, 08:40:34 PM »
what were the original spark plugs on a 68 z/28 mo engine? ac44, 45, or other? owners manual says ac 44 for 327, 302 not listed. I'm running ac 44's now.

General Discussion / roller rockers
« on: May 06, 2021, 11:17:12 PM »
Hello, I have a 68 z/28 camaro with the 302 290HP engine and I'm wondering if roller rockers are worth it? Right now I have roller 'tip' rockers. The engine has had some mild work done but all to resemble factory specs, bored 40 over, Comp Cam cam components, lifters, pushrods and solid 30/30 equivalent cam and valves and valve springs.

General Discussion / clutch 68 z/28
« on: May 28, 2020, 02:02:36 AM »
With clutch depressed to the floor I can't shift into reverse unless I shut the car off. the clutch is a 3 finger style new disc and resurfaced flywheel. In the next day or so I plan to put new bushings in for the Hurst shifter rods and see if that helps???

General Discussion / Re: over heating

OK guys first off thank you for all your feedback! With a little more basic mechanics I removed the thermostat and lower hose then did a complete flush of radiator and block three times until water stayed clear and ran motor for more than 15 minutes without overheating. installed new thermostat 180* and 15# rad cap. Things seem to be normal now but I'll wait until I take the car on the road to see what happens. Oh, not sure if I have the correct temp sensor, anybody have correct part number?
once again thanks;
Pete

Original 5 blade fan with shroud, can feel good air flow thru radiator, no white smoke, no water in oil, can see water circulating with cap off, but still gets hot and blows out of the radiator cap hole, fresh rebuild (air pocket?). factory heat gauge only goes up to 1/4 mark on gauge temp degree unkown.

General Discussion / over heating

OK guys any help would be appreciated, my 68 z/28 is over heating just idling in the driveway. It has a 180 degree thermostat, clutch fan, 3 row radiator, basic z/28 trim. Radiator was cleaned checked and flushed out, 15# radiator cap, thermostat changed out.motor is basically stock but bored 40 over and new J&E domed pistons. water pump new and water circulates when thermostat opens up but still overheats and blows hoses off.

General Discussion / grill color
« on: July 27, 2019, 10:27:42 PM »
I need to know what color the grill was painted on my rally green 68 z/28. I read the camaro exterior info but it had only for 69's.

General Discussion / bucket seats
« on: June 29, 2019, 02:15:56 AM »
My 68 z/28 camaro has bucket seats with headrests. I was told the 68 didn't have head rests. My question is was there an option in 68 for deluxe seats with headrests? The seat design matches the rear seat pattern. Car has center concel with gauges. Maybe just perhaps the previous owner swapped out a 69 camaro interior?

Check fuses, I once had a similar problem with dash lights and the fuse was the problem.
