General Discussion / Holley Bowl Gaskets
« on: April 01, 2023, 02:46:48 AM »
Anybody know where I can find the part number for soft Holley bowl gaskets for the bolts. I hate the solid white nylon ones. I need some that are slightly soft. Danny

General Discussion / GM Is Investing Almost $1 Billion in New V8 Engines
« on: January 21, 2023, 05:17:46 PM »
Seems that the big bosses at GM want to keep the V8 alive and well. They don't want no stinking electric. I am sure they will have many, but knowing the V8 will be pumping for a while longer is good to hear. Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Smog Pump Info Help
« on: January 17, 2023, 11:32:11 PM »
I have a smog pump that I am trying to find the application for.... The pad is 31081S. Which I believe would be about Nov. 6th. 1968. So that would be for a 1969, correct? The Pulley is 3927116. The only other numbers I could find were on the cast iron back. And they are 4UX. I was told it's an early take-off from a small block Camaro. Appreciate any help... Danny

General Discussion / Speedo Cable Broke
« on: January 06, 2023, 05:56:01 PM »
Went for a ride yesterday in one of my Camaros. Trying to get some drive time in... Driving along, looked down, going 60. Looked down a minute later it was on Zero. Pulled the trans gear, it was perfect. Pulled the cable out and it broke 2" from the dash connection. Got the 2" broken piece out.
Searched many places online and NAPA and O'reilly... ALL have 63". I stretched out the cable with the broken piece and measured it 3 times, it is 62"? Will 63" work? Where does the slack go? I assume they are measuring the longest point, which would be the insert?
Anybody have a source, part# for a correct length cable.

General Discussion / 4 Leaf Springs worth
« on: December 04, 2022, 07:15:09 PM »
I need a set of 4 leaf springs for a '68 Z/28 project. Trying to complete a car to sale. I found a set for sale. But have no idea what to pay. I have never seen a set for sale. Probably also because I never needed any until now.
They are in good condition. Will need a good cleaning and repaint. What should I pay? $500 for the set? Any help appreciated. .. Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Need Help with Engine Decode
« on: December 01, 2022, 08:42:51 PM »
My friend has a block with the following info. I don't have access to my files as I am 2,000 miles from home. Was told it was a 300HP 327 Chevelle motor. BUT.... Does it have a steel crank? That's what we need to find out before purchase. Any help appreciated... Danny

General Discussion / What's it worth??
« on: November 12, 2022, 07:42:40 PM »
This is a very scarce flat bottom air cleaner assembly that is NOT reproduced as far as I know. Have not looked for a while. How often do you see a survivor cowl induction for an automatic only. Yes, that's right. This is not for a Z/28. Still has 350 sticker.  Since all '69 pace cars had cowl induction, this would be correct for an automatic car.
My question is what do we think the value would be in this unrestored condition? ... Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Block ID
« on: October 26, 2022, 10:49:30 PM »
I know it can get very difficult to identify some blocks. I am trying to figure this one out.

  Block Casting #3892657
  Block Date K116 - Jan 11th, 1966?
Front Pad Stamp V1122KM Flint, November 22nd?
Looks like it decodes out as 1 of 3 blocks.

  1967   3892657   302   290   290   2   Z-28, small journal
  1967   3892657   327   210   350   2   car & truck
  1967   3892657   350   295   295   2   Camaro

Is it the Z/28 block because of the " V" for Flint High Performance Engine Building Plant? Or could it be the 295 HP 350? Danny

General Discussion / 1969 Camaro Z/28

109 Beautiful clear pictures from any distance. BUT WAIT... The front pad picture is SUPER blurry! And covered in 10 coats or more of paint. Funny watching these dealers sell a classic car. Seems like a pretty nice car. Already bid to 75K.  ... Danny

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro Z/28
« on: August 11, 2022, 11:57:41 PM »
Anyone remember this insignia on the back center panel of a car? It would have been raised WAY UP with big Crager's with slicks on the back. This would be in the West Allis Wisconsin and surrounding area in the 70's. Also had "Born to Be Wild" on the rear quarters. ... Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Interesting 302 Block Marking
« on: January 30, 2022, 04:53:08 PM »
Anyone else see or have this marked on a Z/28 Block. Or ANY block. Never seen this before. This took a while to try and get it photographed well. I have to try to duplicate it now that the block has been cleaned and rebuilt. There is JUST enough residual left to copy. Do I put it under the paint hoping it bleeds through, or lightly OVER the finished paint? What product do I use and where do I get it?
Either way, very cool marking that I assume was done at the Flint Plant? ... Danny
