General Discussion / Re: 814 alternator on TC site

So I took all your advise, made a deal with the team Camaro seller and John Pirkle Jr.   Pirkle  Jr has been very pleasant to deal with. He has the alternator and give it a 95 percent thumbs up. He even disassembled it to check the date clocks on the inside of housing to make sure they preceded the date stamped on the outside. Plus a few other tell tale things that he claims a counter fitter would likely not know to look at.  His conclusion is if it’s fake, it’s the best fake on the planet, and done with absolute precision. I asked about the 1 and 4 being so close together, he says it’s not as uncommon as most believe and that he’s noticed it a lot on later runs of the same number alts, starters etc where the stamps start to wear a bit and get sloppy, he also said spacing isn’t nearly as critical as all the digits being in line?  So now I’m asking you guys .... 800 or not ?

Looking at BOTH of my cars and some other pic's.... It looks like the 4 is to close to the one?   Danny
I had the same thought about the 1-4 spacing but I'm not an expert either.

If the ebay seller is in TN or Angola IN, and has plenty of other items that "have been in storage 40 years", then I would suggest best avoided.
Oklahoma city

Can you post the pictures? Maybe it was restored by Pirkle, not supplied by him. Also Pirkle Jr took over the business after Snr passed.....

So team camaro site has an 814 alt for sale, several knowledgeable people believe it to be a restamp for various reasons. The owner keeps stating to me that he purchased it from a John Perkle and the JP is a trusted authority and would never misrepresent a stamping.  I have no clue who John Perkle is? Do y'all ??

I agree with Kurt E 16 8 - it’s fine.
So when I first started posting about my car. Someone kept wanting this pic. Said it would go along way to help prove z or ss.  Now what?   Lol z or ss?????????

E168, imo.
I would not have seen a six. But know that seems right too.  Is that in the norm for the date of the car ?
And the date of the tube stamp ?

You can always try craigslist or if you don't want a bunch of people wasting your time try Team Camaro or the yenko site. Those people were at least understand what you have. It looks like a fathom green Z?
Brig green and thanks for the advice.

Blue car.  Ebay reuses/redirects links now with other cars for sale once the auction is over.
The trim tag shows the bronze? And there's a pic of the door jamb that looks bronze, the description says black? And the pic looks blue or green? Lol that's why I'm asking.

You are still looking at the wrong car. Did you read where Ebay changes the link after the auction is over? This is the car:

Oh I see ....man that's pretty!

Breaks my heart but I'm physically and emotionally exhausted, have a kid in college and one starting this coming year. I reluctantly need to sell it, but I hate Ebay. Is there a better way?
