I thought I read one of these threads where it said that the cowl vent panel was painted and striped off the car, so stripe color should not be in the cowl area?

I just meant that some people will install "period correct" motors. At least he has the partial VIN to check against the full VIN on the car.

Mark, CRG has agreat article on glass here http://www.camaros.org/glass.shtml Near the end it says this about Astro glass "The Astro-Ventilation logo was dropped from the 1968 door glass after Nov '67 (approximately) production. However, one pane of apparently original May '68 door glass with the Astro-Ventilation logo has been observed in a 05C build. The mating glass on the opposite side of the vehicle is Sep '67 Astro-Ventilation glass, and combined with the other dates seen in the set, CRG believes that the May '68 pane had the Astro-Ventilation logo added by LOF to create a matching set, presumably to fill a void in production and/or to use up left-over panes. Of course this conclusion is speculative, but we will continue to watch for other, similar, indications." Hope this helps

So, yes, if you're not going to drive it much, you should be ok. If it's a daily driver, you should get the hardened valve seats installed. When I rebuilt the motor on my F100 I figured it didn't need hardened seats. About 9 months later one of the valves had sunk. Or you could check with a machine shop, see if it cost more to do the work after the damage is done. If the cost is the same, wait and see if it becomes an issue.

So how accurate is CBTN? Mr Colvin lists 52 different axle codes for 1967 Camaro PA-PZ and QA-QZ. Or maybe many of these codes are 10-bolt only codes? And 6 months before the build date of the car, while not unheard of, does seem unlikely, doesn't it?

Ok the heads are from a 1971 model vehicle, the block is from 1970 or later, but the CNR or CNB doesn't seem to correspond to a Camaro motor, according to the info at nastyz28.com. If you don't get more info here, you may try over at camaros.net, they work with all years of Camaros, while this is a first generation only site.

What exactly is your question Are you asking for restamp opinions? Is the partial VIN by the oil filter? Does this date agree with the casting date and partial VIN? Is this actually a 302?
