OK have to ask my original door lock knob's are metal repo's are plastic ? some say they are supposed to be plastic ?
could this be a build date thing ? early 67's don't have seatbelt retractor's , early car's have metal seat back's , my car is 10E build so could this be why it had metal knob's ? small detail I know but you guy's have already solved all the big stuff  ;D

The original 69 -70 GM pull knobs were ALL plastic.
Metal is repro.

Pacecarjeff

oops 69's are plastic  ;)

67's are metal - the ferules were plastic for the metal door tops that year.
Plastic knobs will not fit into those original ferules -
Similar plastic knobs were used earlier years - but the tops are smaller.

I need to take a pic of these side by side , the plastic repos I bought look just like the metal one's

70 Z28 forrest green, green int, M40, bk vinyl roof PROJECT

I have collected a ton of door knobs - post a picture of the one you need.
Typically all the Chrome ones in 67 were metal.
The colored ones are always plastic.

RS3SDL2MG

the one on the left is my original the one on the right is the new plastic repo , another note is that my originals are two piece with the thumb top crimped onto the metal base part

OK I am stumped. ???

All the original 67 metal ones have that little separate top attached to them -
almost like it was attached to one of the earlier metal ones - except those are much heaver metal?

The original plastic chrome ones look very similar, and they do fit into the plastic ferules -
And I know these are originals, because I pulled these myself from wrecks.
So maybe both were being used?

All the colored ones are plastic.

So a study needs to be done ::)

There are earlier smaller dish knobs  - those are in plastic and metal too?

my question now is ,,,,,,,,,,,,WHERE AM I GONNA FIND A NICE SHINY NOS SET OF THESE ?
now that I have got someone to admit that they exist !!

Hi I went out and looked at my original doors and have 1 original chrome metal knobs the other is mia. Is the chrome metal knob part of the Z23 interior decor package? I have black interior w/z23. I always assumed it was plastic but its like Brads 2 piece above.

In addition a magnet will not pick it up so it must be alumninum I dunno but the shaft is so thin walled it couldn't be made of plastic.

Pacecarjeff

The metal ones always polish up perfect.
Brad - you are Chevelle Mikes friend from down here right?

You guys should come by for a visit some Saturday - I could likely be convinced to part with one  :P

hey now ! guy's I asked for one first , Jeff I live in Va. I traded you the original rear seat cover out of my 732 interior remember ?
If you would send me an e-mail I will send my address and pay you with paypal for a good enough door lock knob that I can clean up , the knob's seem to be the same type of thin metal an antenna is made of ?
