Paint finish for 69 SS hood louvers

I have a pair of assembly line louvers that I will be having re-chromed soon. Hoping someone who has restored them can provide some guidance on the black and silver paint and prep that will need to be applied.

1) Closest match silver and black paint?
2) Surface prep for painting?

I read something here about the argent silver being the closest match for the "stacks"

My opinion, you will be better off buying new reproductions or NOS if you can find them.

It looks like the black is full gloss to me. Pretty looking parts sell alot. Based on the poor quality of reproduction everything today, assembly line parts are definitely the best way to go, because they will fit the 1st time. Looked up a set of NOS-- not cheap.

Satin black, not gloss. Argent for silver. Lightly and carefully scuff with scothbrite if desired, clean as per standard practice. Although I've painted chrome parts without scuffing and adhesion was fine. Can't go wrong with Classic Headquarters.

Probably the next best thing to NOS GM......for the most part.

Im only in these louvers for $100 so im going to send out to rechrome and restore myself. Ill never have anything close to a 100 point car but I like doing what I can with AL parts when I can.

If there is any pitting it will be costly to repair and plate. Until the plater sees them, an evaluation cannot be done.  Stripping the plating reveals the full extent of damage. If I buy reproduction parts, no questions asked return policies are verified if dissatiasfied. Avoid OER brand parts whenever possible.
