I know this topic has been beaten to death, but even using the search I couldn't find a definitive answer. I found some lift hooks, but I also found some conflicting information. Are these hooks pictured below ONLY for 73 up 454s? Someone told me they were used on all big block Camaros 68-80. P/N: 3994055. I don't believe it.
The correct ones for Camaros are the ones that are rounded at the top right? Notice how the U shaped one in the pic is off center too.

Thanks!

Hi Hawk,

I thought the manifold bracket used rounded edges.
Here is a link I posted about the one on my 67 04B LOS that shows both brackets. No replies received and I know the topic was beaten to death. Per John Z. NOR did start to use them starting '68, but being LOS did a few things different especially when it came to body drop, I wonder if they began using them earlier.

Thanks for the response Mike. I think the subject is boring a few folks lol. I couldn't find the answer in JM's Definitive book either. All the pics I've been able to find are rounded, so I'm sure the one I picked up is wrong for my 69. I already told the guy I got it from and he's at least willing to take it back.

I have understood for some time that rounded is correct, but not sure were I read that. There is much posted in various sites I am sure you have found. Looks like the car in link has round. Should have asked when you were down here, don't think I have anymore round though.

68 is same as 69 as far as I remember.

At this point, again going by memory, I agree with Darrell.

The ones that do not have the rounded edges are probably from the 70s.

Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate it. I definitely concur that it's a 70s lift hook, not for my 69. All the pics of original 69s that I found look like what you've shown me here. I was surprised I didn't find anything that said, "this is definitely a 69 Camaro lift hook and this is not."

I hear you... They were cheap for 69 Camaro BB lift hooks, but not cheap enough to grind them down. The thought did cross my mind. The guy I got them from is taking them back. Not an important piece for me, just a nice to have. I'm more than likely running my aluminum intake and Holley 3310 anyhow. I just want the stock parts on the shelf if I ever wanted to put them on. They're getting tougher and tougher to find, so I collect them when I can and hold on to them now.

Damn Darrell those pics of the engine in your L78 are pornographic... If you posted 100 detailed macro shots I would study them relentlessly.

Thanks guys.  Im still working on the preservation of the car and have and will continue to take detailed pictures (none have been posted at this point).  Once I am 100% complete with the 67 I will be able to devote more time to that.
