This 3/68 memo shows the 302 8 qt aluminum oil pan was being released for service in 68, but it never happened....

The May 68 Tech News shows that JL8 was about to released for late 68 production (didn't happen) and they thought about releasing the single piston disc brakes as a running change in 68, but changed the time to 69 model year.

Be interesting to see a development oil pan.  Thanks for posting.

I noticed Vince Piggins name on the Central Office document for the 8 quart aluminum oil pan.

IT almost has to be one of the pans similar to the shelby Aluminum pan which looks like a hammerhead shark. (has the side kickouts on the bottom.)

I believe so too. Otherwise it would drop too low.

Possibly something like this.

8 QT aluminum pan would be great for the engine in endurance racing, the volume of oil and the broad pan helps with oil temps.

Not sure this would work without interfering with the drag link on a Camaro but it might be a possibility.

These are some of the images in the link that Jon provided.

Obviously it didn't work as intended or it would have been put into production. And would that work with a factory subframe?
