I am looking for photo of 396 big block engine which came with 1969 Camaro SS that showing the original condition.

I need photo similar to the that photo of 1967 Camaro Z28 302 cubic-inch engine.

Mark

No 67 Z28 engine left the factory looking like that.  Thats got way to much spit an polish on it, Manifolds were already on it when it was painted, so those would have overspray on them.  Everything on that engine is just a little to shiny.

As Mark mentioned the 67 Z/28 engine did not leave like that. It's a cool picture but obviously not one to use for any type of restoration. One alt. bracket not installed, ground stud not installed in water pump, no lift hooks on manifold, no paint on by-pass water pump/manifold hose & clamps, etc.. If you do a search there have been some threads discussing engine paint techniques on big blocks along with pictures. Here is an example-  http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=11414.0;all

Here are some photos of a L35 I recently painted, please note that I was not able to find the color that this engine was painted originally so I mixed my own and then used a Paache VLS airbrush to spray the engine.

James, looks great, I like the slightly duller paint finish. I think you nailed it. After run in it will look even better. I'd like to see more pictures of this car, its just after my build date. George
