It has been messed with. VIN rivets are not OE.

I saw that but did not comment. The hidden VIN derivative stamps migt not match the VIN tag. If the tags were swapped, you have to ask the question "why"? It wasn't a HP car in the first place so there must be another reason. If the tag and the hidden stamps do match the owner may have planned to change the rusty dash panel before giving up on the project.

the seller states that it appears to be a 307 car, but wouldn't it be a 327 car being an early build?  Also if I may ask how can you tell the rivets are not stock? They appear too like like what I've seen? I'm not questioning just hopeing to become educated about the rivets.

VIN tags had to be riveted from under the dash because the windshield was installed by Fisher body. All that was visible were the ends of the rivets; the "rosette" heads were underneath. On the car in question common rivets were installed from the top; the windshield was not in the way.

The interior photos show what appears to be an undisturbed dash. Replacing the top of the dash with the aftermarket panel requires cutting and splicing the structure across the front. Everything looks undisturbed including the body tag. The VIN tag may simply have been removed and re-installed.

Pretty well optioned car. Deluze, AC, PB, PS, vinyl top.

Tag matches the VIN - I agree with Bill that it's original.

Why is the 9 missing between the 7 & N on the cowl tag! ???
69 Z10,69 ss396Chevelle, 71 Corvette

The 9 denotes the year. Since cowl tags start with the year it is not needed. There are some other differences the can be understood by reading the web site. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#VINvsStyle

I'm sorry now I'm confused, I thought Bill said that the rivets look non-orginal.

KurtS

Tags are original to the car, even though though the VIN has been off.
