"Highly original unrestored condition"..........?

Were hood pins ever original equipment on a 1st gen Z28,...or any other factory Camaro?

Stingr69

Hood pins were never stock. Cross rams were not stock either. Headers could be ordered but none of that would be factory installed.

FRANKTHECRANK

Yes,...I was being a little sarcastic. I know the cross ram and headers were dealer items, but at least they were offered to be delivered to new owners via the parts department, and/or installed on original, stock Z28s. The hood pins on the other hand,.....

Headers were a factory option for the 68Z but as acknowledged by everyone, no factory cross-rams LOL.

There was 4 ways to buy a 1968 Z/28.

Z28   400.25 base
Z28-2 479.25 air plenum
Z28-3 779.40 headers
Z28-4 858.40 Both of above

It's my understanding that the bottom 3 were not available for the entire year.
It's also my understanding that that these pieces were furnished loosely.
Since all 1968 Z/28 came with smog, it was up to the owner to install them. Both affected the smog system.

Somebody can correct me if my information isn't correct.....Joe

I know one of the owners of this car, at one time it's was in Raleigh NC. My friend bought it for $30,000 and sold it for double that.

That is correct.  After Jan. 68 those options were not available.  So only Aug - Dec 67 would have had those option opportunities.  Dealer installed air plenum and most were done with drills and saws.

Ex. Below:

Interesting to note as many of you may know, they supplied air cowl plenum with a template for cutting cowl hole, and the 68 plenum air box base had the indent for the smog pump but the tubes when attached to the ex. manifold hit or interfered with the large plenum air box, so as aforementioned the smog system did not work. In Jerry's one fact book there is a picture of a 68Z with smog system and air cowl plenum. I asked him many years ago how they did that and it was something like using smog tubes on right side from a 71 Nova smog system if I remember correctly.
Jerry has one of the very few 68Z's that came with the option of headers and air cowl plenum as Joe posted. When restoring our 68 Jerry let me review and take pics of his car which I greatly appreciated.

I realised pretty quick that it wasn't going to clear. So I came up with the idea of running a '69 right side smog tube. And even the hoses were JUST long enough. I sold my NOS Cowl Plenum on eBay a while back for 8K. It had the cut-out sheet. And I also had a copy of one, so I put that in the box for the buyer.
