Petronix distributor conversion with TIC TOC Tach

Hey guys,

When I assembled my car, I had installed a Petronix HEI conversion within the stock distirbutor. My tic toc had only worked intermittently since. I figured bad ground or something simple right? Well I decided to change out the printed circuit while I was at it, as it was rough looking and now I have no tach. Since this car was built from scratch I had never had it running before the Petronix install. Would that have anything to do with it, or am I still searching for a ground issue?

Thanks, Dan

Paul,

Yes I did get the one from Ricks. I think it still may be a groud issue. But I wanted to make sure that it was not related to the Petronix conversion.

Thanks, Dan

I have a Petronix 1181 module in the distributor in my '67 and my 40 year old tach works perfect.

I also have the 1181 set in my 68 Z and everything works fine. Look for a ground problem and also check were the 2 wires exit the distributor for a short against the dist. body.

PWB (Printed Wiring Board) on the dash cluster for a 67 is the same for tach or gas gauge. The only difference is in which wire goes to the connector. IIRC, the pink wire is used for the tach. In 68 they had 2 different types of PWB - 1 for the Tic-Toc-Tach and 1 for everything else. I don't know about the 69.
