Originality / Re: Capacitor Mounting Bracket

Here is a shot of my 67 assembly manual. I copied the 396 section and put it where it would have been prior to 4-6-67 when it was removed. This should apply to 67's only. Again, just wondering if anyone has seen this set up on a 67 L-35.

Thanks Mike. I was just wondering if anyone has seen that 396 mounting bracket on any 67 L-35?

Originality / Capacitor Mounting Bracket

I was looking through John Hooper's 67-68 Camaro Reference Book and ran across a section on the mounting of radio capacitors, page 125. It shows that the 396 engine uses a mounting bracket that the capacitor is attached to. The part number was 3771778. Further reading shows this part was used on 59-62 fuel injected Corvettes. It shows in the 67 Camaro assembly manual, page 386, that this view was removed 4-6-67. Just wondering if these were used on early L-35 and L-78 67 Camaros.

I went out searching for more block stamping pictures today and found one over on the Super Car page that shows the stampings really well. I am not computer literate enough to move a page so I'll  post where I found it. The article was 67 L-78 started by 67 Nova Boy on 11-3-2018. The article goes on to talk about the 67 Indy Pace Car engine, and its development. Reply #7 shows a picture of the block stamping. The assembly date is the same as mine, and the Vin numbers are somewhat close. Again, sorry about my limited computer skills.

Thanks. All this time I was not sure. I found in my packet off paper work from previous owners an engine rebuild ticket  from 1987. I can see that it says hone & boil block. I wonder if it was decked also. This shop is still in there, might be worth a trip. Thanks again. I really have any no intention of selling this car any time soon, but good to have the info to be up front if I ever do.
