Originality / Capacitor Mounting Bracket
October 17, 2024, 05:51:01 PM
I was looking through John Hooper's 67-68 Camaro Reference Book and ran across a section on the mounting of radio capacitors, page 125. It shows that the 396 engine uses a mounting bracket that the capacitor is attached to. The part number was 3771778. Further reading shows this part was used on 59-62 fuel injected Corvettes. It shows in the 67 Camaro assembly manual, page 386, that this view was removed 4-6-67. Just wondering if these were used on early L-35 and L-78 67 Camaros.

Decoding/Numbers / Question about 67 Trim Tag
August 29, 2018, 12:01:00 PM
I have been following the restoration of YS 760 on the Super Car sight, and have a question about my trim tag. YS 760 shows a Z, T/400 designation in area 2, and is an 06 NOR build. My L-35 is an 02 NOR build, but does not show a Z in area 2.  Did that designation start after Feb, or could it be a letter that was just missed in the stamping? Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / Help with Radiator Tag ID
August 22, 2018, 12:37:45 PM
I've been helping a friend in our car club clean up and detail her engine compartment. Her car is a 69 coupe with a NOM. I took out the radiator to clean and repaint and noticed that it is a Harrison. The tag on the side below the Full-Cold is as follows: IA   VL
                                                             CF
                                                              59
                                                               3014219 8
I have looked through several reference books, but could not find this particular tag. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Originality / BB Air Cleaner Lid Black or Chrome
September 12, 2016, 10:33:07 AM
I was at a show recently and a gentleman commented about my air cleaner lid. He said with my bill date 02E, the lid should be black. Was there a change over period from black to chrome? My car is a NOR L-35, T-400. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / Rad Tag Decode
May 23, 2016, 01:00:41 PM
I'm helping a friend with some work on her Camaro. Its a 69 with a non original 350. Took out the radiator to be serviced and noticed it was an original one. The car has no trim tag on it, but its an early 69 N501365.
    Tag shows the following:
    IA  VL
    CF
    59
There are no numbers on the bottom of the tag. I'll try and get a picture posted.
Any decode help would be appreciated.

I have been trying to find a new pinion seal for my 12 bolt rear. I have found that the original part is no longer available, and anything used as a replacement (Auto Zone 8460N) is for a truck and is too thick. There is a company in KC, (Sterling Bearing Inc) that may be able to cross reference the part # to what they have. Does anyone have that part #.  Thanks.    :-\

Originality / Condensation wicks in tail light housing
August 24, 2014, 02:21:01 PM
While at the Camaro Club of Kansas City show yesterday, I came across a beautifully restored 67 with the Mod package. Looking it over I noticed something that looked like a filter type material in each of the holes in the tail light housing. I was told that they acted as a condensation wick, and they were also on Impalas. Never seen them before until yesterday. Sorry I didn't get a picture.

Originality / 67 Dog Dish Caps
July 24, 2014, 12:22:42 PM
I received a summer catalog from Rick's Camaros. On the front cover is a 67 with dog dish hub caps. The caps are clean except for the black bow tie in the center. I have also seen caps where the inside decorative area is painted black, along with the bow tie. I have the later on my 67 L-35. Just wondering which was correct or were there an earlier and later style?

I got back some information about my cars original dealership. Gibson Chevrolet, Leadville, CO looked from the photos to be a small mom & pop dealership, A page out of the newspaper show they sold Chevy, Olds, and International Scout.  That brought up a question. When my car got to the end of the line, and was not a special order car; how was it determined where the car went, North, South, East or West?

Restoration / Correct Bi-metal choke kit
May 07, 2014, 09:34:15 PM
Getting my car back together now except for one problem. I cant seem to find the correct bi-metal choke kit for my carb, Q-jet 7027210. I have gone through 4 different vendors, and cant seem to get the right kit. On this carb, the choke spring needs to retract instead of unwinding, and it has an off set choke rod. Anyone know where I might find the right kit? Lots of bucks sitting in a box on the shelf.   >:(

Originality / Correct Dated Water Pump for 67 L-35
February 13, 2014, 01:28:39 PM
Like a lot of folks around the country I've spent a lot of time cleaning up and detailing my car. The engine was rebuilt in 87 by the 3rd owner. The water pump was replaced and while I have the car apart I'd like to find a correct 284 water pump. I've seen several on E-bay and was wondering what would be the correct time frame for the date on the pump.  My engine pad is T0106MY, so maybe Nov-Dec 66 time frame?? Any help would be appreciated.   :)

January 13, 2014, 05:31:20 PM
I am doing some underhood clean up and paint and was wondering what the correct finish is for the T-400 switch bracket? It was black, and I blasted it back to bare metal. Just wondering what finish it should be. Thanks.    :)

Originality / Carb for 02E L-35 Automatic
November 04, 2013, 09:08:50 PM
I have found a couple of carbs at Custom Rebuilt Carbs that  I think might work for my car. I would like to get some input on which would be the "more" correct. There are 2, 7027200, one dated L6 and one H6. The other is a 7027210, dated B7. Would any of these work for a 02E built L-35 automatic. Thanks, Christmas is comming.   :D

Decoding/Numbers / Correct Carb Number
April 24, 2013, 12:16:05 PM
I am now in the process of locating a correct carb for my 67 L-35. It is an 02E build, T-400 wo/air. With that build date would it be an early, mid, late number carb?  Thanks for any help.   :)

Decoding/Numbers / SS Horn Button
January 29, 2013, 05:33:57 PM
I replaced the steering wheel on my 67 L-35. The horn button was an SS, with part # 3905582. From the forums here the SS button was never used in 67. I did put a correct standard horn button on. I was just wondering what the usage was for the SS cap. Thanks   :)

I am trying to find any information about the Chevy dealer that originally sold my 67 L-35. The paper work I have shows Central Chevrolet Company, 235 Main, Grand Junction, CO.  Car was sold to original owner on 7-7-67. Anyone out there in the Grand Junction area remember this dealership? Thanks   :)

I read on another camaro website regarding production numbers. I am trying to get an L-35, T-400 breakdown.

Number of L-35's : 4003

Number of M-40's : 1453

Number of L-35/M-40 /K-19 about : 430?

Number of L-35/M-40 : 1023

Do these numbers look somewhat correct? I'm trying to get a feel of how many of these cars are left out there.   Thanks

Originality / T-400 Neutral Safety Switch
April 07, 2012, 03:50:50 PM
I am in the process of changing out the neutral safety switch on my 67. The old switch has been broken since I purchased it. I went to the local store that sells repo camaro parts and was told that this neutral safety switch came from a Nova, and that the shifter was probably Nova also.  I was kind of taken back as the switch looks just like the picture in the AIM , UPC M-40, sec 11. I am enclosing a picture of the two switches and of my shifter. Any help would be appreciated.   ???

Decoding/Numbers / Subframe date stamping
March 11, 2012, 11:20:36 AM
I have been following the restoration of two 67 pace cars on their web site. On one, it shows the subframe stamped up side down, and the other, right side up.  Did the subframe providers stamp their products differently?  I didn't catch if they were NOR or LA cars   ???

Decoding/Numbers / Starter Numbers
August 13, 2011, 08:18:24 PM
I have pulled the starter from our 2-E 67 L-35 coupe. The numbers are as follows:

1107365   6  M  16

Delco Remy USA

2 B A

I've checked the books and find the months are stamped A-L. Any help on this "M" month stamp would be appreciated.    ???
