There was a recent discusssion here about which was more correct: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=9327.0If you do a search using the features at the top left of this page you may find other relevant threads. Maybe search the Team Camaro site as well.

That's the second thread I started on the firewall pads without a conclusion yet.

I checked TC and found nothing that helped me. I'm starting to get everything lined up to start on my 68Z, and was hoping someone was making a correct replacement. With all of the "correctly" restored cars out there, I can't believe they all have NOS Pads. Are the judges not deducting for the repos?
Thanks, Paul

Chick,
Thanks, your car is really coming a long nice. I do hope your thinking of burning a CD with all the data you've put together, I'd buy one.
Several years ago Rick's (when Rick George still owned it) listed a "correct pad", anyone know if the molded one being listed now, is the same?
Any judges have any opinion on this?

the one I bought from Rick's about 5 years ago said it was correct too. It wasn't. Besides not being made of any similar materials to the original, it had the fusebox cutout backwards. Fits like crap and looks like it.

Just reading this thread now... Has anyone seen this pad? It looks correct enough in that it's not the smooth rubber type. I need one for my '67 ragtop and this one looks the closest in texture, composition and also looks the same as in my other '67 survivor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390412613889?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649Mike

I couldn't see the rubber side, but I would guess that's one of the cheapies. If so, it will look like crap, fit like crap and is a piece of.

The rubber side is near the bottom of the page. It sure looks close enough to the original finish.

I put one of these in my car and they fit good and look decent. Only difference I see is the vender. I got mine from Classic Muscle.

Hi Daniel,
Was the look and texture close to the original?

Very close especially the exterior (black) side. It has the leather look somewhat. It had the right amount of thickness too. I made the mistake and put Dynaliner on the firewall before the pad and I had to take the Dynaliner out from around the heater box for the bolts to be long enough.

Thanks. I'll likely order it then at that price. The pad will be the least looked at item so if it's close enough in appearance then that's all I need.
