X33RS, did your crank have a stamp on it anywhere that said TRACO on it? Just curious.

I just got my Traco paint mixed up today with the paint code.  Thank you!  When I get my destroked dry sump AMC engine back from the builder I'll be able to paint it the correct color. 

Here's the car its going in...

You can also add it as an attachment rather than putting it on a photo hosting website.

That is SHARP looking car. I never gave AMC a second look until the world of Trans-Am racing was opened up. AMC really had their stuff together too.

Here is a picture of my newly built Trans Am spec AMC 5 ltr engine going in my Javelin.  It's a destroked (down from 360 cid) dry sump engine.  It's freshly painted Traco Grey.

I have a question for whoever it was that posted the Sherwin Williams paint code for the Traco Grey paint...I had the paint mixed at a Sherwin Williams dealer.  I've painted two engines so far and experienced the same thing both times...it takes 3 days for the paint to cure.  I have it mixed with the correct hardener to the correct mix ratios.  What is the deal?  Is it supposed to take that long to dry?  The finish is very nice and the paint is super smooth, but 3 days to dry is crazy.  Is this paint supposed to act like that?

Given that I have posted a few pictures of the car and engine, I suppose I should put up a link to the car after it was started first time.  This video is of the initial start-up after the engine was installed.  It blew some crap out of the exhaust on fire-up, but man does it sound sweet!  destroked 360 cid to Trans Am spec 304.  Enjoy!
