AC compressor

There seems to be oil leaking from the front of my AC compressor any ideas,what the problem is & how to fix it?? I dont know much about compressors,never worked on one.Thanks

Sounds like you have a bad front seal. If it's your original, you should have it rebuilt. If it's not (or you don't care about "matching"), then you can get a replacement at your local auto parts store.

Well it was rebuilt 7 yrs ago just got the car done 8 months ago.Compressor is original so it needs a rebuild?? Cant just replace the seal?? Thanks

Yes, the seal can be replaced, but 7 years is a long time so you might want to go ahead and have them go through it again just to make sure it's in good shape. Better now when it's apart, than a few months down the road, you know?

The front seal can be replaced, but it requires some special tools that cost about as much as having an A/C specialist do it for you. You want the good CERAMIC seal, not the cheap carbon seal.

You don't have to remove the belt - just pull the green wire connector off at the clutch so it won't engage.

I have the same problem and have been putting off doing anything about it due to uncertainty in who can perform the rebuild. Any suggestions in the Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia, Pa area or otherwise? Thanks

My 68 has been parked since 1983 , A/C Working when Parked.

I am also looking for someone how can Rebuild My A/C Compressor.

Any Recommendations on Vendor ?
