There seems to be oil leaking from the front of my AC compressor any ideas, what the problem is & how to fix it?? I dont know much about compressors, never worked on one. Thanks
-
Sounds like you have a bad front seal. If it's your original, you should have it rebuilt. If it's not (or you don't care about "matching"), then you can get a replacement at your local auto parts store.

Well it was rebuilt 7 yrs ago just got the car done 8 months ago.Compressor is original so it needs a rebuild?? Cant just replace the seal?? Thanks
-
Yes, the seal can be replaced, but 7 years is a long time so you might want to go ahead and have them go through it again just to make sure it's in good shape. Better now when it's apart, than a few months down the road, you know?

Thanks for your help!

The front seal can be replaced, but it requires some special tools that cost about as much as having an A/C specialist do it for you. You want the good CERAMIC seal, not the cheap carbon seal.

Thanks John I will take off the belt for now til I get it fixed!

You don't have to remove the belt - just pull the green wire connector off at the clutch so it won't engage.

Well that makes it easy,Thanks John

I have the same problem and have been putting off doing anything about it due to uncertainty in who can perform the rebuild. Any suggestions in the Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia, Pa area or otherwise? Thanks
