Well thats what I am talking about Kurt. The car she is referencing that supposedly has it, IS the car in Jerry's book that has the reproduction sticker. So if you take that car out of the equation, then what are you left with here? This site is referred to as the Camaro Research Group, so what I am suggesting is lets put our heads together and research this and make sure we are coming to the right conclusion about how things were actually done in August 0f 1969. What I don't want to see happen is the CRG re-writing the history of what took place in 69 based on 1 car that has a repop sticker on it. I am sure there are guys who have referenced this book and put this sticker on their august built 69 Camaro , trying to make it look more original, and really they have possibly  done just the opposite.

Lets base our information off of original stickers (data) and multiple cars (sample) , to make sure, we are arriving at the right conclusions. (= research)

I felt like I was hijacking this thread talking about the sticker and not the retooling of the door, and that is why I started a new thread asking for the guys with August built 69's to post a picture of there stickers. sorry

Lynn is a guy. :)

That might be a repro sticker, but I believe that car originally had one before it was restored.

well let me first say "Sorry Lynn".
Secondly, because it is a mystery with that car and the sticker and if it used to have one, it should be easy enough to find another 69 august built car with it. Chevrolet produced thousands of Camaros in that month. Lets hope somebody can post a picture of an original one so we can base our findings on fact and not speculation of what we think may have been the case.

I have been trying to use different sources, unrestored cars on the internet, such as plain jane camaros that would be less likely to have been restored compared to z/28 or SS cars that are more likely to have had repaints and restorations where this sticker would have gotten replaced.

Hey "ddmrk" and "restore-z28" thanks for posting those pics.

I have a question for "restore-z28" does your sticker say 9/69 in the corner or 8/69? and I am wondering since your car is an 08E car if it was delivered to the dealer in September possibly? I also couldn't make out the the last 6 of your vin because of the flash,

thanks for contributing

any body else out there with an August built Camaro with the original decal? lets see some more posts please

It has 9/69 in the corner on the sticker and my vin is 679***. Car was sold new on September 26, 1969 and was told by the original owner it was delivered to the Dealership in mid September (not sure the exact date).

A good friend of mine had an early August built Z28. When he was looking at my car last year, told me he had the same sticker on his door until he repainted the car in the 80's. He also told me nobody really cared about these things back then and often body shops would pull these stickers off to paint the door jamb. I have no reason to doubt him as it was a regular conversation amongst two friends. Not sure if he took a picture but I will ask him.

I will ask him for a picture and his Vin, he sold the car in the 90's and may or may not have either.

So your car was probably delivered in September as well, similar to the brown Z/28 above. Well we are on the right track here I hoe we get more posts I haven't seen any earlier than 08E now.
