Here's a picture of my 69 Z28 JL8 car I got from the original owner, he said it was taken in 1974 the day he sold the car.  Looks kinda plain with the flat hood.  ;D

i love it with the flat hood. first thing i did to my z when i bought it in 1978 was put a cowl hood on it. i went back to the flat hood about 7 or 8 years ago and it is unique!

One reason I bought my car five years ago was that the flat hood and no spoiler had not been added.

My car is the one on the home page, the 69 RS Z.

nice pictures , thanks for posting

one of my favorite Z pictures is this muddy 68 getting hammered. That's what they were built for. :)

This is a great idea...sharing our first Camaro memories and pictures.

I first tried to buy a high school friend's '69 Hugger Orange RS Z28 just after we graduated from school (1978), but I was never in the position to buy it.  The car passed thru several hands in town then eventually was purchased by out an out-of-state buyer in 1981.  I wanted that car so bad I could hardly think about buying any other car.

Fortunately, in 1981, another former classmate sold his '69 RS Camaro.  He built it up to run the 1/8 mile drag strip in town: 12.5:1 compression, 5.13:1 rear gear, etc.  It felt like you could pull the front wheels off the ground when you left the line.  Well I quickly learned that you should not try and drive a race car as your primary transportation, so I detuned it to drive daily, with a 3.55:1 rear gear, good standard shocks, radials on the stock 14" rims, plus a few other modifications.  Money was tight so I traded the cowl induction hood for other parts I needed and purchased a flat hood.  Other than the 6 – 8 MPG on premium gas, and during the winter keeping a flood lamp on all night under the car to keep the starter and underhood temperature warm (I did not have a garage to park in) so I could turn the engine over and start the car, it was a great car!  I had the car until 1983.

I really enjoy my current LeMans Blue ’69 RS Z28 but I often wonder where these Camaros are now.

You can't be serious. We've waited a long time and you toss us one (a bone) pic. Come on Nick, you can do better than that. Hey, here's a pic of my Z-28 at age 14 (that was in '72). Even then I knew what was hot  ;D!

My First Z/28 mid 75. The rally wheels were long gone when I bought it and the Cragar 5 spokers it had all fell apart. I liked the look of the later 5 spoke factory wheels and my uncle sold them to me for 20 bucks for the set. No docs I recall or left from the car so not sure if LA or Norwood. Flat hood, had console with gauges. Plain dash no wood trim, AM radio with cool looking 8 track added. Headers with cherry bombs with 3" chrome tips behind the rear wheels. It was loud and faster than hell. Got about 5-6 MPG. Hated to sell her but gas was 55 cents a gallon back then and I only made 2 bucks an hour and was a starving college student...............hope the pic comes through.
More to follow when old photos put onto disc!
This is great fun!
Let see more old 1st Gen cars.
