I have a 67 396/325hp SS. I am removing the original engine and installing a 454 that I'm building. I want an aluminum intake that will allow me to keep the original SS hood. Will the 427/390hp Corvette intake work? Or is there a good aftermarket intake that will work?

Just use a stock L78 intake. It will even work with oval port heads if you pay attention to the gasket and will look like it belongs.

Charley,
How well does that configuration work? I would think that there are some draw backs?

I've known guys that ran them for years. The square port intake is larger than the oval port heads and a good gasket seals fine.  Flow doesn't seem to be bothered enough to tell.

Charley is right.  We have done this several times before on customer's engines.

I am confused ? CR do you have two car's ? or is this one the one you asked about in the other post that was all original never painted or bothered ? why would you remove an original 396 to reinstall a 454 ?
