Upper alternator bolt
« on: September 13, 2009, 03:38:28 AM »
Does the upper adjustment bolt have a "TR" head? I believe it is a 5/16 NC about 1" long.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen different markings, IIRC. But the washer setup is always the same...

Flat washer, lock washer, bolt?

In that order.  It's in the 69 AIM.  My 69 bolt was TR, but my 68 one is WB.

Think the survivor '69 Z I had was "RSC".  I can't recall seeing any alt adj bolts with TR markings.

Thanks Jerry. I will use an "RSC" for the top adjustable and the "TR" for the lower fixed bracket at the water pump.

I'd have to dig thru my piles, but I've seen three or four.
IMO, it's more important to have the right design of bolt and washers. The bolt was a commodity and could be supplied by any # of companies. So it probably varied thruout the year.

A friend of mine was looking at my engine. He told me to find the correct bolts for the alternator and he would look thru what he has. How can I disappoint him? ;D

How about "WB" head markings?

"WB" is the headmark most commonly seen on 60's Corvette alternator brace bolts, but it's a different part number than the bolt used on the Camaro.
