Traction Bar Removal
« on: November 19, 2008, 02:56:54 AM »
I want to remove the Lakewood traction bars that someone put on my 69 Z28. My question is what will I need to replace that was probably discarded at the time they were installed.  I am assuming that I will need to get new shock anchor plates and leaf spring U-bolts.   Also, did the traction bars relocate the shocks?  Any help will be appreciated.

I think that all you need to replace is the shock plates.
The shocks would not have been relocated, just because bars were added.

If it has 2 U bolts on each side then you need to replace the inner one with studs (if going back original)...
Do you want to sell the traction bars? If so could you email a pic of them to me?
Thanks
James

I would be happy to sell them to you.  Is there an inner and an outter U-bolt?  I've looked at some pictures and noticed that the shock bracket bolts on the inside (meaning closer to the diff) and there is one U-bolt on the outter closer to the shock. Attached is a photo with the bars on my car and another photo of what I thought it should look like.

Thanks for the responses I got it figured out.  I found the diagram that shows that it takes one outter U-bolt and the inner uses two T-bolts.
