I thought I read here somewhere that JM has seen the front lift hook painted silver or not painted at all and ways are accepted. I left main with no finish on front hook and painted the rear orange. I havent installed the rear yet as I havent found what the correct bolt is..

Original aluminum small block intake ("472") front (right) and rear (left) lift hooks and shouldered bolts. These are from my 2B Norwood RS/Z and are unpainted (orange), natural steel. I wasn't able to determine if either had received silver paint.

I just did a quick browse through my "unrestored" car files, and the only car out of about 20 or so that has the silver paint is Skip Lacates 69Z dated late 09C, and even his just shows a minimal amount of the silver.

Did you happen to get a look at the rear hook? Was it painted orange, silver or nothing?

No orange paint. Remnants of silver paint have been found on survivors like when I took pics of Skip's 69Z. NCRS accepts in judging either bare steel or painted silver.

Front and rear 3rd week feb Baltimore built L78 Chevelle. Rear has traces of orange on sides. That is bolt holding it on. Front looks painted.
