Argent Silver/ Krylon dull Aluminum
« on: April 06, 2023, 02:10:25 PM »
Tried to find Argent Silver in an aerosol can. Went to Eastwood. Won’t be available until July. OK, I saw that Krylon 1403 Dull Aluminum is a good substitute. Went looking for that at… Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, couple of Hardware stores. Don’t have it. Online….same thing. Not available until 2nd quarter of the year. Is there another substitute silver that Krylon makes that is close to Argent Silver? I like the Krylon because it is made to use on plastic

Your local paint supplier should be able to mix it for you and put in a spray can. Call ahead to check for availability and price.

Contacted an automotive paint supply store & they wanted a paint code. Does anyone have a paint code for Argent Silver?

WA 3024. I have more paint in stock than I know what to do with. I mix my own for 40 years. Your paint store is lazy. A small amount of work and Argent is not hard to find. Call any jobber and they should be willing to help your shop. Never bought one thing from Eastwood in all those years. Cannot run a shop everyday with supplies from them. Nobody I know who is in the biz can. Bring a sample to any paint store and a blind monkey can match it.

Isn't there a company called "Details" that sells rally wheel paint in aerosol cans?

Sauron Concerning original appearance and techniques, would you advise spraying it out of a gun over an aerosol can to get more of the same type of finish they originally had?

Will not matter that much with a satin finish. I own a shop and shoot everything from a gun. Again... a one armed blind monkey can do it. Built...not bought.

The reason why folks want the Krylon 1403 is because Jerry McNeish recommends it to be as close to authentic as what the factory used back in the day - something about it having a light green tint to it.

But if all you want is Argent Silver spray paint, that can be gotten almost anywhere I would think.

I have a partial gallon of Spies Hecker in Argent Silver here. It’s correct. Also have 2 other nice silvers, one with a LOT of metal flake. Thinking about trying that on a wheel to see what it looks like for something different.
