Hi My Name is Jim McDougall

I am the guy pictured with the Silver 69 Z-28 at the top of this thread
My Friend Charles took this picture at San Fernando Drag Strip in the San Fernando Valley in Southern , Ca
Probably in early 69
Unfortunately this is the only picture I believe I have

I got out of the Nave in late Sept of 1968
I had a friend who had a 1968 Z-28 & loved it

I went to my local Chevy Dealer to get a new 69
They weren't being produce yet but he was able go through the options & order it for me

After waiting several weeks & being impatient I went back to ask about the progress
The car was being made only a couple of miles away in Van Nuys
He knew the production manger & called him
We were told it was being built the next week & was the 7th  69 Z-28 coming of the assembly line for the 69 year
It came with a std hood, no spoilers and chambered exhaust & no Mufflers
It was very loud , the chambered exhaust was vert short live
Chevy gave me the option to have the chambered exhaust removed & muffler installed , but I declined

I eventually passed the car on to my brother , then to one of our friends  & then gone

I believe I still have the original build window sticker & possible the original pink slip stashed away some where

I like most regret letting this car & many others get away

Jim, great that you're able to add to this thread, thanks for telling us the story on your car, and awesome to see that original documentation! Hopefully the car is still around.....
Did you ever attend Lions back in the day? I have a very similar silver Van Nuys Z/28 that was a regular there from late '69 to the last event in December of '72, would love to find someone who might remember it......

Yes I was at Lyons every Saturday Night & San Fernando on Sunday

I raced the Z once with stock street tires ,  104 in 3rd gear et in high 13's

had a 396 65 chevelle we race weekly

Not far from mine (9L503829). Mine is a 10B car, makes you wonder what this car would have been? 10A?
Goes back to me wondering what the earliest L.A. car is.

3.73 was the standard Z28 ratio.  That line on the window sticker indicates code G80 for the posi traction. The next line is G84 which is the optional ordered 4.10 ratio. It got the 4.10 and posi was mandatory with 4.10 (also 4.56 and 4.88) but not with 3.73, 3.55, 3.31, 3.07, 2.73 and 2.56

The standard Z/28 rear axle ratio was 3.73 but only on Z/28, did not require Posi. As the car was ordered with Posi, G80 appears as an extra-cost option. Specifying a non-standard axle ratio was also an extra-cost option.

Listing different axle ratios was confusing. Later in the model year, the G80 description was revised to include the optional ratio if ordered. As of June, 1969 Chevrolet dropped the 4.10 ratio as a Z/28 option.

That's pretty good going on street rubber Jim!
Wonder if you recall a guy called Bruce Erickson, from N Hollywood, or his car - it's the one pictured in my avatar. You're probably very close in age. He ran the car as 'Home-Grown Fiasco' in E/MP, for the first couple of years in the original silver with black stripes, then in '71 he got it painted as pictured by well-known Fresno custom pinstriper Bob Kovacs.

Great that you found the docs on the car!
Btw, they told you a line of BS about being the 7th 69 Z. I know of twice that many before your car.
But they definitely were having a supply issue and weren't building Z's fast enough in that timeframe.
