Another fake Z....
« on: August 30, 2016, 04:50:10 AM »
So here is my 69 Camaro contribution of the day...of course another fake Z. :P

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-True-Z28-/231950072181?forcerrptr=true&hash=item36014d3975:g:7J0AAOSwEOxXPgSW&item=231950072181

(Can you recognize one when you see one?)

This one was a little easier to spot, or I am getting better recognizing the fake from the authentic... :D

Gotta be real. It's got the three spoke steering wheel and the Winters logo on the manifold.  ::)

Gotta be somewhere north of 150,000 - about half of the total production of Camaros at this point.

Good!  Now I don't have to feel so bad about the rear stripe application. :P

I did not hear back, so I decided to call. Spoke to Patrick, he said "Oh we get these calls often, and your the 3rd person that has called on this car, saying the tag is fake". I asked "does that give you pause then?"
Oh no, we have a guy thats been doing this for 18 years (Paul) and he checks them all out. Patrick says he thought he overheard Paul telling a customer on the phone that he has special GM Docs that show they used X codes early on. So Patrick is going to have Paul get me that doc, or contact me and let me know why this car is real.

It could have an X7 behind the seat. I feel confident that October Norwood cars did not have the narrow stripe configuration if they ever did.

I know of a couple of Original paint 09B Norwood cars with the std configuration and a 09B LOS with the narrow 68 style stripe.

This car is still for sale.   I don't know anything on 69 Camaros, so my curiosity is what is the obvious you guys are seeing to make this car is a fake z/28?

No one here will tell you why they think (know) this car is a fake. If they did then the fakers would know what they did wrong. But if you do enough reading of threads here and see enough trim tags and follow along you can start to get a good idea. I know very little about Z28's but after it is pointed out as fake it is a very obvious error.

Read the first sentence in THIS LINK and you should be able to figure it out.

Thanks for the link, I don't usually look at 69 Camaro's, but I hate people that pass fakes as originals.  Trying to dupe a potential buyer isn't right, but an informed buyer is an empowered buyer.
