If you are gonna keep it just remember build it how you want it not what the investment value will be after its done..    If you plan to sell then do what it takes to make the most money..

Well it may only be a "SS 350" , but you did pick the best year to restore...1969 BABY!

I know resto time is depressing but if it is not a hobby I would buy one done. Years ago I had a real known guy do some work on my Corvette. When I picked up I asked how long should I let the primer and body work cure before I painted it. He said as long as I could. I said what,2 weeks,a month? He said if you want it perfect a year would be good. I did not wait that long but later learned why he said it. I understand that the new paint booths that have heat that can bake the car is the way to go now but most shops with them are not into leaving your car in it that long.

Apparently there was a typo there..   he meant to type 'first'.. and somehow it came out 'best'..a word which only applies to the refined and beautiful 69 models..  :)

All depends, not so depressing for me. I think if you buy a project, your probably excited to get it out and show it off, use it.But I do love the build.

If it's a been there, done it with the car, these are great times !

Who in their right mind enjoys categorizing and organizing fasteners after the Phosphate bath ? Me and a lot of folks on the site I guess, LOL! Oh, and the boxes in wait when you come home from work, I'm like a child at Christmas.

I think there's a lot of us like that Jano...  :)    I much more enjoy checking correctness, preserving, etc..  than I do in 'dealing with vendors/painters/etc'.   If my car ever gets repainted, I will probably do it myself with lacquer I bought long ago, rather than deal with a paint shop (nothing happy there in my experience!)...

I have every fastener sorted into groups (ex: front fender, left door, etc..) in tagged ziplock bags. I'll glass bead and do a batch of phosphate and/or bright zinc when the parts are next to install. It may sound like extra work but anyone who has done enough plating at home can knock it out quickly.
   As for boxes waiting at the door......well it's always good to get a gift from me to me ;) My wife jokes about "cooking your nuts" (phosphate) and tells me "another woman I can compete against, but how do I compete against a car"?  8)

*L*..  Mike S....    Very Funny!   I sorta like cleaning and cooking my nuts (and bolts) too..  :)

My wife came in a few minutes ago..  said to me 'Look what I got from Sears in the mail today!"...  it was a 3/8" drive, inch-lbs torque wrench that I'd ordered (it must have been for her since she claimed it..  but I'm sure she'll let me borrow it!).. :)

And here it is, LOL!  27 years ago my then girlfriend ( now wife) used to say the same things we all heard concerning our love for "a car"  Took away from attention better spent on them. NOW....my wife loves seeing me toil about out back in the shop, jokes without question the never ending parade of FedEx/UPS/USPS trucks rolling down the drive lately. Just asks when the" Camaro" is going to be done. Excited about getting it out and about to some events. Even eye balling those pretty, new F250's. Life aint too bad! Even prods me to look for a "roller" to put together for the track, one she can take down the strip. Well, once the kid graduates from college next year $$
