I've always seen the tape on the floor board only.

Agree Dave! Here is a picture of Skip's which I posted on that cars thread which shows the tape and what looks like some type of adhesive used to place/stick tape to underbody of car similar to what Charley was referring to.

I am all screwed up. I remember seeing that stated once but it was, and I am wrong.
The subframe was not installed for the water test, so that's what the tape is for - the water test.
The subframe was built up by Chevrolet, with the engine/trans.

 So Chick, his good Buddy Skip, and I, were talking about the spoiler end filler plates {or whatever they are called}at MCACN. Skip mentioned there should be no paint under them. Chick and I, under further inspection noted paint on the screw heads. So just wanted to get that pointed out and show a couple pic's. I was in the trunk for the lock pic, and thought I would pull the plates... Danny
