I like on the E-Bay ad he states: Exterior Color 71B = Lemans blue, repaint done in the 90's with correct black z strips)
I guess he thought the "B" was for black stripes not a black vinyl top.

Well to be fair it does have the correct stripe color because it had a black vinyl top originally.  Unless it was special ordered with white like in other cases that I have seen.

"This car was built the first week of January and the motor was built the 3rd week."

That raises a flag / question. It should be the other way around. The engine cast and assembly date should be before the car build date, not after.

Got any pictures of that engine pad stamp?

When you read the eBay ad, it states "Oriiginal DZ302 block". Fine point, but it doesn't say "The" original engine block. May not be a matching numbers car, but obviously can still be an origianl Z. Need to take a peek at documentation -

We have plans to examine the car, restoration photos and documents on Monday. This won't be a JM style appraisal; they requested help and I am happy to provide it. I will discuss my thoughts and opinions privately with the owners; they are free to share them here if they wish.
Learning more and more about less and less...
