Glad you provided the entire VIN sequence number Ronnie, and that this looks like it might work out as a win-win situation.
Gives me hope that my block may turn up again someday.

Austin, did you search the VIN, or recall the details from the "Hog Wild" thread over at sYc?

I know Kurt had some concern about the cars numbers, trim tag etc.

I had read that thread over at Yenko, but seems like every other Z story contains a missing motor. So no I didn't put it together that way. I read the CRG story and once he posted the complete number, I started doing searches on the web with different combinations of 9n627007, n627007, and so on then after a little while came to that thread. ( It is fun to look sometimes) Another CRG-er probably would have found it if I didn't.  ;)

After re-reading it I felt kinda sorry for the guy considering there is so much speculation around the numbers on the car. But now if they can figure out the timeline, this car may be worth the time and effort to do a full resto on, now that it may get the original block back.

Keep the faith your block (s) are out there, some may have been put into a clone waiting to be discovered, or under a guys bench, but keep searching guys!

I don't know the story, but if he had speculation before imagine it now that he has THE block. All the experts will know it's a restamp. GOOD for you, RonnieJ!! Wish someone would have my original block.

Doug, the car being discussed at sYc is a race car missing it's original engine, not a car with a re-stamped block. The owner posted pictures of the car back in the day, and after being brought out of 20+ years storage, hoping someone could fill gaps in it's history. The car has an X77 tag that was questioned because of the spread of dates relating to tag build/schedule week, vin and body number. Interesting thread, well worth a read.

Hopefully the original engine will bridge the gap with some of that information for the car. Once the car is verified or the owner is satisfied it is correct, another question would be - Do you restore it to its glory days as a track car? or back to somewhat stock?

We will see if he goes back to the small block platform...

Sorry, I don't have one and dont think I could figure out how to get it on here.   Me and computers have never gotten along.   If it wasnt for my nephew helping me I'd have never gotten this far.   I ran the motor over to Dave on Thursday and since everyone seems to know him, I'm sure he can get you what you want.   I really liked seeing the car that this motor came from, it made this old heart feel good.   That thing has just sat under my workbench for so long.   It was nice to meet him and see all of his cars and parts.   I expected a garage at his house and it was I suppose, but its across the street and I swear he has the whole dang block.   He even has a few railroad cabooses sitting in the yard.   He has Camaros everywhere, Ive never seen anything like it.   The shop is huge, he has a machine shop, a welding shop, a sheetmetal shop, a wood shop and he does media blasting.   Lord almighty.   He is finishing a upstairs area for storage and boy is it nice.   He showed me some of his other pats he has squirreled away and I saw things I'd only seen in magazines.   He even has one of those 2-4 setups for a Camaro.   He called it his hotel California where stuff checks in but it never leaves.   I asked him what he did for a living and he said he was retired and now this is his toy box.   He is too young to be retired.   I'm 67 and still working, he is barely 50!   If I had that place nobody would ever see me again.   I'd better shut up now and say that I think my motor is in good hands.   Thank to everyone who helped you really made this old mans day.
Ronnie

Ronnie,

Our Thanks to you for caring enough to effect the re-uniting... :)    It would have been much easier for you to just run a for sale ad on your local Craig's list.. but you made an effort and did something good!  Congratulations!
