Here is a 1111170 dist for a 67... but it is not as claimed.  I truly feel bad for those who end up with these parts who are innocent of the fraud...

I hate to bring the light but it seems these crooks are running ramped again on eBay... and eBay is guilty of promoting it.

for what it is worth and thats not much...

if you can't see it I will not educate the bad guys so try to learn as I have to spot these.  It truly sucks to be the buyer of a big dollar item and not even have the real deal.

been there.. but if i can stop it by sharing I will.

It's hard to say that eBay is "guilty of promoting it" - they process over 4,000 new auctions every hour; how many experts do you suppose they'd need to hire to screen/validate that many auctions every hour? Realistically, all eBay can do is to respond to auctions that are reported to them. I don't like it either, but that's just the way it is.

You might want to read the "Question and Answer" section on that first auction.

And if someone believes an item isn't what it's being represented as, the only recourse would be to "Report Item". Not sure it'll do any good, but it may make us feel better!

Anyone that believes they know better, can ask a pointed question, without accusation, which informs the uninformed, and causes the seller to answer the question if he wants bidders...

That Wilma person is selling re-stamped dist. and says so.  At least I can live with being up front.  I don't like it, but its better than the ones that pass it off as real and ask the big money.

I think your mistaken. the ad states "Guaranteed Not Re-stamped"

I don't think that is what he means. If WILMA is selling a restamp he will state that, but if it is real he will state that as well.

Gary - I tend to agree with you. I have noticed wilma99's auctions for years - when he restamps one, he usually states it to be a restamp. There are two of these 170's on eBay right now, and they appear the same in font and markings. You can never be sure (I'm no expert, either; I can usually spot the obvious restamps), but Jerry can probably give the skinny on this if he sees it -

Just my opinion -

Gary and Steve, I see what you mean. I took that statement the wrong way. I've been in touch with both these gentleman and they are very adamant that these are real. I don't know enough about them one way or another to say so. But like Steve said it would be nice if Jerry would give his opinion.

I'm not an expert by any means, but the stamping looks OK to me.  A1 Cardone does thousands of these rebuilds like McDonalds makes hamburgers.  Too bad they had to ruin the surface with a sand / glass bead.  It shouldn't look like that.  Putting it back on a lathe to get the "machine - turned look" would just screw it up even worse.  Either way, if I had a L78 Camaro....I'd pass on this one.

You might want to read the "Question and Answer" section on that first auction.

Question & Answer from listing posted on 3-14-13...

Q:  I was real interested in this distributor until I read this. http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=10602.0 care to comment. Mar-14-13
A:   I read this and I don't know who GI Joe is but he apparently doesn't know real from fake. My customers will know if it is real or fake and that is why I have 3254 feedbacks with a rating of 100% because I tell it like it is. I know this is real because I took it out of the box that came directly from A1 Cardone to a local parts store from which I purchased it. This distributor has never been tampered with in any way. Ask yourself this question. Why would I waste my time trying to sell this as an original if I even thought it was fake because I am offering a100% satisfaction money back guarantee and also to pay return shipping fees if the buyer decides to return it. As for GI Joe, since you have now been "enlightened" that this is a genuine original distributor and we are not "bad guys", your statements are FALSE, DEFAMATORY, AND INACCURATE and you need to go back to this website to which you registered and agreed to the following terms. It says: You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.
