General Discussion / Re: Helicopter crashed in our field

Still crappy here in NH. 41 this a.m. w/rain (snow I hear up north) 1st decent size flea market scheduled for today - didn't bother to go as most booths are outside.
At this rate the '67's not going to hit the road until the 4th of July!.

Restoration / Re: Treating inside of rocker rails & the snow is gone!
« on: April 12, 2014, 12:47:43 PM »
Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll start by cleaning out all the crud. Currently assessing the other side which has at least as much rot and maybe a little more.
Thanks again.
p.s. - (-vellu) Looks like old car rust and dirt in Finland is the same as here in the states!

Restoration / Treating inside of rocker rails & the snow is gone!

Ok. So while cleaning up the area in the lower-forward wheel wheels (rust around one of those little plastic plugs) - I got to thinking, has anyone addressed getting some rust preventative down inside the length of the rocker rails? How? What did you use?  I can see down in there a little and it doesn't look too bad - but some surface rust for sure. Doesn't seem to be any way to get the scale and grit  (and I think a few seed shells from the varmits) out of their either.

p.s.  - just marked it on the calendar, April 10th .....last of the snow melted here today in southern NH.  However, the big lake further north - Winnepesaukee  - is still covered w/ice. I envy all the talk of the shows down South as I'm still garage bound!

Hi Mike. I remembered you from some postings last summer when I picked up the car and you mentioned they were born close together. My trim tag corner code is D671 and the production run # is  LOS 8461.  So very close.  I've been picking thru the car off/on all winter  - and will be sure to stay in contact as these cars I'm sure have a lot in common. Here's a '67 for the list. Just pulled the tank last weekend on my '67 LOS 11A car. Code is 42  9D which doesn't seem quite right given the number 9. Could it be upside down and should be a 6?. Referencing some other posts -  the other 11A car listed  (40 6N) I believe is very close in production to mine - so go figure?

Originality / 327 L30 Intake Manifold date
« on: March 10, 2014, 01:18:03 PM »
Q for the group:  Would a casting date of "I86" (Sept) on the intake manifold of a '67 11A LOS  L30 build be too far out of range?
Looking to determine if I have a transplant.
Thanks-Chris

Nothing too remarkable here - but the VIN is listed for the Z shifter so maybe a match out there somewhere. CT Craigslist.

The Secret Service needs to read this as its a clear case of of counterfeiting.

Restoration / Re: '67 rear brake hose routing.
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:07:45 PM »
Thanks Bob - I think you are spot on with that. I tried orienting the brackets a few different ways - always the same result. I think going with the '68  multi spring version is the answer - for now (might go back to the singles at some point - and I'll have the right hose :))
Thanks again - Chris

Check the CRG site under research topics for the full report on L30/M20's.
Very informative to include some production estimates that are about as accurate as you will find. Not many made and far fewer left that are complete (motor-trans-rear). If your car is a true L30/M20 - keep it together and maybe we can bring some posting competition to the forum vs. all the boys with '69's and Z's!!!!!!! :)

Sorry for the late reply but thanks to all for the feedback. Looking closer at the perches-they are defiantly the original single leaf set up (recess is only 1" deep) I'm sure this is contributing to the vibration the orig. owner stated developed after his mechanic made the change over to multis. There's really nothing holding the bottom 2 or 3 leafs from sliding side to side except for the outboard strapping on either end. Anyone have a spare set from '68? I don't think there were any multi. leaf configurations in '67. Thanks-Chris
