Sorry for the late reply but thanks to all for the feedback. Looking closer at the perches-they are defiantly the original single leaf set up (recess is only 1" deep) I'm sure this is contributing to the vibration the orig. owner stated developed after his mechanic made the change over to multis. There's really nothing holding the bottom 2 or 3 leafs from sliding side to side except for the outboard strapping on either end. Anyone have a spare set from '68? I don't think there were any multi. leaf configurations in '67. Thanks-Chris

Not my car but my '67 was purchased new at Ed Taylor 2/67. Too bad they are out of business. A little photo shopping and bam! Free restoration! (maybe not). Anyway - Ed do you have any other information on the dealership? Thanks Chris

Restoration / '67 rear brake hose routing.

Can I get 2 pictures of the following for a '67:
1. Rear brake hose to body mount tab/hard line.
2. Rear brake hose to diffential mount tab.
I just replaced the hose in the same orientation as was on the car-but it seems tight (not much play).  Would like to confirm the old one was replaced correctly when the springs were updated to multis. Thanks Chris.

This is what my "Barn Find" motor looked like after 28 years in storage (well, it was really in a garage next to the house) - but you get the point.

So my '67 rs L30/M20 had the rear leaf springs changed over to multi's. After a wonderful discussion with the orig. owner last week (cant believe I located him - more to come on that!) he confirmed that he had made this change at the suggestion of his mechanic after one broke and "almost put me  in the ditch"  :)
I'm planning on overhauling the rear - so the time would be right to either re-install the multi's or go back to the singles? - Seems GM realized pretty quick there  were issues with the single leaf application.  Comments? The car will be driven.  Thanks - Chris

Restoration / Re: who do you all get body parts from?

Suggestion: beware of product pictures when ordering. I had a terrible time with Ground Up and trunk panels. Took me 2 weeks after I got the order to get them to admit the pics did not match the product because they had changed vendors.  Started calling around and found similar situations when describing what I was looking for. Solution when feasible was to request someone go into the stock room and actually LOOK at the part. A couple places were willing to do this - prevented more headaches.

Coincidence - I picked up almost the exact car about 6 months ago (only a '67 - is also a 11 LOS car). Its a #s matching L30/M20 that had been in storage for 28 years. Life has gotten in the way some  so the only thing I've done is change the oil and replace a window crank I  found at a flea market! This has been a blessing since the time I did manage to make has been spent researching the car and corresponding with the great people on the CRG Forum site!
Resist the urge to go out and start buying parts and accessories off the shelf.  I did that the first couple of months and now I have a bench full that I've started returning in favor of better quality and fit. Best  thing I did was to start up conversations with experineced <& trusted> people like you find here at CRG  - show the car in the light for what it is and what it is not - and realize that this is not a 2 episode project like you see on TV. I've had a great time w/it so far and have barely turned a wrench.  Enjoy the car piece by piece - and keep in touch - I'm sure we'll have notes to share.

Posted on NH C.L. - all 3 have seen better days (looks like a '68 in their too) - but might be worth a phone call.

I'd like the answer to this question also. My '67 L30/M20 currently has the "can" style breather cap with the mesh inside. However, while cleaning a few things in the engine bay - I discovered what looks like the orig. cap wedged down in the fender well (bet that was a frustrating oil change afternoon back in the day - I think we've all dropped something and had it "disappear"!) Anyway, its showing its age and no sticker - but does have what looks like a number "5" or a stylized "S" in the center. Can't see any part number.

Restoration / 327 Timing Chain Cover
« on: September 06, 2013, 02:26:49 AM »
Looking to replace the timing chain cover on my '67 327/275 as I just discovered while cleaning it has developed some pin holes & is weeping oil. Bone stock orig.  engine & I'm a little confused when looking for a replacement - what I specifically need in regards to the right size? (7",8",short,deep, etc., etc.). Also - what vendor carries the best  OEM type part? No chrome! Looking for basic painted cover. Thanks
