Maintenance / Coolant drain and refill
« on: March 29, 2013, 07:17:21 PM »
I drained the coolant (SB 350) by opening the peacock and removing engine block bolts. Drained about three gallons. When refilling, less than one gallon brought the radiator to full. What am I missing  ???

Originality / '69 small block - correct alternator belt
« on: February 25, 2010, 07:02:35 PM »
For my '69 SS350 with AIR pump, water pump, crank and alternator, my research shows one belt around all four pulleys. If this is correct, does anyone have the part # for the alternator belt? I have seen #3883248 but it doesn't specify if it is for AIR or not.
Thanks for any help.

Restoration / Rear end sits too high
« on: January 10, 2010, 05:23:08 AM »
I just put the sub frame and rear end/leaf springs back on my '69 SS350 after restoration. The back end sits high: about 15" from the ground to the bottom of the rocker panel, and 31" from the ground to the cnter of the rear whell well. While nothing else has been reassembled, I can't see what will bring the back end down. The multi leaf springs are original and haven't been modified and the car sat at a normal level prior to disassembly. Any ideas?

Kurt,

I'm trying to figure out how one can copy a portion of another's post and paste in their reply (it shows up in a purple box). Any help is appreciated.

Originality / Cooling fan & Harmonic Balancer
« on: December 02, 2009, 07:36:08 PM »
1969 SS350:
For the four blade fan, what is the measurement? I read the report but don't see that info. Additionally, they are difficult to find...has anyone seen them for sale anywhere?

Secondly, is 7" the correct harmonic balancer for my car?

Thanks!

Originality / Hood Latch Assembly and Spring
« on: October 30, 2009, 06:19:32 PM »

I was reading the thread (above). To be sure, is the entire hood latch assembly, top and bottom painted a dark gray phosphate and just the spring itself is gloss black?

Thanks, Steve

Decoding/Numbers / Coorect engine block for 1969 SS350
« on: October 06, 2009, 08:50:49 PM »
My 69 SS350 was built in January 1969. According to CRG, there are 4 blocks used for the 350 that year: 3932386; 3932388; 3956618; 3970010. However, the second and fourth blocks listed were used in mid year and late year, respectively. Am I correct then in looking for either a 3932386 or a 3956618 block for my car? And where besides ebay does one look for a correct block? Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / Muncie 4 Speed Decoding
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:21:42 PM »
My 4 speed Muncie is stamped with my VIN # so I know it matches my 69 Camaro. However the tranny code is P9S27A. Decoded, it tells me it was a M20 built on November, 27 1969. The problem is my car was built in January 1969. Can anyone help with the disparity? Thanks.
