General Discussion / Supplying the Assembly plants with engines.
« on: November 03, 2018, 08:39:41 PM »

How would the supply of the Z28 L78 L89 engines proceed towards the end of the production year?
I know that orders were not released by the central office, for production, until all parts were on hand...

Would the engine plants build an anticipated number for stock and then as the supply was exhausted out of the engine plant's inventory it would be refilled with newly built units?
Were engines called out of Engine Plant stock upon order from assembly plants?

Or would engine plants supply units based on forecast production?
What about an order entered within last month of production?

If I am not mistaken they are service tags for glass adjustment -warranty billings.

FWIW I searched - service tag, warranty tag, window tag,

If anyone one here collects 356's or early 911's I have a good bit of literature from PCA mags PCA -Carolinas -(60's era) and 20+ Christophorus Issues from the mid 50's -into the late 60's along with original dealership lit - car selectors etc from the early-mid 60's. Porsche accessory catalogs and options books. I would prefer it to go to someone who appreciates it and also so I don't have to break it up on ebay.

There was nothing thrown together about this job...

The engine is set back with a flip frontend which slides into place so there is no external indication of it.
