I ran across this supplier of Mustang - restoration parts
DEAD NUTZ ON
Tape assortment $11 MORE THAN ENOUGH to do one car.

Also apparently they are having the correct brown paperbacked Tar board manufactured for them and die cutting it in house.

Originality / Late March 69 Pace car original under body photos wanted -
« on: December 20, 2020, 10:39:51 PM »
I am looking for some photos of original cars - unrestored - of the rear frame rails and trunk drops rear inner tailpan area, for the sealers  and amount of overspray on the galvanized finish of the trunk drops and rear inner tailpan?

And also overspray paint coverage of the lower rockers, which I believe is better than on the average car because the overspray on the under side floors of pace cars is WELL above that on even a late march White coupe.

Thought some of you might be interested in the Vette my brother and I just bought.
In the NCRS it is generally understood that Black was not available from 1970-1976, the old thoughts were there were ZERO cars painted black, that has been revised SLIGHTLY in the last 15 years... after 2 original paint documented 1972's were presented and then in 2018 the 71 LS5 was brought to light - I have shown the docs to the C3 National Team leader and have been assured there is more than enough documentation for the car to be shown in Black without fear of paint deductions.

71 LT1 ordered and delivered in Black - nearly 20 letters back and forth to GM Overseas distribution regarding the car, paint, the GM strike, car delivery, special paint price, etc.
42k miles original paint.
As of today there are only (2) 1971 and (2) 1972 Corvettes which are documented as being delivered from the factory Black.

FWIW this is the type of docs which are required by the NCRS to show a 70-76 vette painted black
without a total paint deduction for wrong color.

General Discussion / Why Camaro production was extended in 1969.
« on: October 20, 2019, 05:10:02 PM »
Was reading posts over on the NCRS forums and ran across this little bit of information which JohnZ stated. I knew there were issues with the new model, however I do not believe I have ever seen the specific issues stated or discussed either here, Yenko.net, or Camaros.net.
If this is posted somewhere on the CRG I do not recall seeing it.

John Hinckley (29964)
The extended production year for the '69 Camaro (and late start for the new '70 Camaro) was a result of die tryout failures for the new Camaro quarter panel dies. The die tryout panels exhibited numerous wrinkles and splits, and it required major changes in the first-stage draw dies and draw clamping rings to work out the forming issues before the quarters could be made reliably at production rates. There are lots of "conspiracy theories" that folks like to relate, but they're hogwash. Fisher Body had to do a lot of carving on draw dies and draw rings, and that delayed the program; first time Fisher Body Die Engineering was ever responsible for a delayed launch. Involved a lot of wild last-minute scrambling by both Chevrolet and Fisher Body Purchasing to get both inside and outside suppliers to keep making 1969 parts on lines that were supposed to be in the process of being changed over to the new 1970 parts.

Originality / 1970-1974 Z28 wheels - color...
« on: February 03, 2019, 05:53:50 AM »
If anyone were interested I recently went through a lot of trouble to figure out the correct color in Chroma Premier for the Second Gen Z28 wheels - I have never been happy with the finish of wheels I have seen on any restored car. (the 70 -72 Corvette Grille is the same color with texture as well)

Here are the results... the lighter photo is WITH FLASH the other two are without.

General Discussion / Supplying the Assembly plants with engines.
« on: November 03, 2018, 08:39:41 PM »

How would the supply of the Z28 L78 L89 engines proceed towards the end of the production year?
I know that orders were not released by the central office, for production, until all parts were on hand...

Would the engine plants build an anticipated number for stock and then as the supply was exhausted out of the engine plant's inventory it would be refilled with newly built units?
Were engines called out of Engine Plant stock upon order from assembly plants?

Or would engine plants supply units based on forecast production?
What about an order entered within last month of production?
