Nikke, I highly doubt anyone in law enforcement would risk their job for this. Several years ago it wasn't such a big deal, but now it's scrutinized so much that you better have a VERY good reason to do the inquiry!

A few years ago I asked a Florida State Fire Marshal to run my car through NICB and he stated a case (report) number is

required and he couldn't do it without one.  I know him personally by working and taking classes with him. I have a 2003

NICB book with their zones and phone numbers if you would like to call them.

Well Captain John I guess you are happy today. I am not because I live in Indy and am a Colts fan.

Read your state laws on filing to sell an abandoned non-registered vehicle... SC requires the magistrate or sheriff to run a NICB report if the vehicle is not registered in state.

Bodyshops do this often. Many cars are towed in or customers' cars are left behind and the owners are never to be seen again. Then you have to file the paperwork before you can take legal possession. Some are junked, some are kept.

Exactly... look for the back door for the NICB... don't ask for it specifically but ask to have something done which requires the report to be run... VIOLA'

NC runs a report on all out of state titles on 1972 and older cars before issuing a NC title. But all they will tell you is that the car or it,s engine or trans is not listed as stolen.
