Would a Jan. 20th 69' 480 Distributor be an ok date for a 4th week of feb. 69' build? That would be between 30 and 34 days. That's counting all saturdays and NO sundays. Sundays would add another 5 days.      And we're distributors installed on the assembly line?

That date will work fine, as long as it's prior to the engine assembly date stamped on the block pad; the distributor was installed at the engine plant.

I should also add that there is a wide range of distributor dates in all engines.  Some will go back as far as six months.  A very typical dist in Jan-Mar Z28's is the 8K30.  Many must have been made on that date for them to show up in most first quarter of 1969 cars.  I have also been researching the later dates too.  And have documented 9H distributors that show up in very late 1969 Z28s at the end of the run.

With all the distributors that come into CHP for rebuild, I have probably the largest photo data base on original distributors in the country.

Jerry, Did you get my email about the 488 distributor for my '69 L48?

Yes, I did receive it.

Have not had a chance to look and see what I have.  We have some personal family issues going on right now and I'm trying to get a broken race car back together for the Division One National open race.

Bare with me.

My car has the same build week as yours, and has an 8M19 in it.

dannystarr

z28302dz, is your car documented original, with all original components? And if so, would I be able to talk shop with you via email about some things on our cars?....Danny

Jerry@CHP

The famed Brandenburg survivor car in my Camaro fact book is a Feb car and has the 8K30 dist in it.  I have a bunch logged into my data base that show up with that unit.

My 02D '69Z has its original 9B11 480 distributor (restored by Jerry).

I would be glad to.  I also sent a phone number to your message box.

Hey JohnZ, I didn't know your car was also an 02D car. That's cool. Maybe I could shoot ya also some questions about this car. And thanx to z28302dz also. However I feel stupid but I don't know how to access my message board thingy. How do I get there to get your number?

I was trying to get to many things at one time, and after vacation and that swine flu adventure I had no income for over 30 days. Not a dollar! So I am trying to look at getting one car and it is an 02D car. It's not mine yet, but I am working on it. So I would appreciate the help as it has some component issues.....Danny

Just click on my username and it'll bring up my profile - my e-mail address is there.
