original trunk weather stripping

sorry for all the questions, is there any positive way to identify an original 69 camaro trunk weatherstrip?  anybody have a pic?  just in case any one know where to get one and what I should expect to pay?  thanks

GM Parts Direct has them-$75. I just sold one I had for 20 years. There was a number embossed on it somewhere but I can't recall the details. One of the others will undoubtedly add info.

Original trunk weatherstrips had a white string embeded in them.  later GMs and repros do not have the string. You can see the string when you look at an end.

Of special note.  There are actually three versions of the GM trunk weather strip.  The early versions do have the string.  During the mid 1970's, the same version of this strip was used without the string until the mid or late 1990's.  I should also mention that the early versions of this WS gave you enough material to do two Camaro trunks in the box. 

As of late, GM is still issuing this weather strip under the OEM part number but the rubber is much harder.......like the Soft Seal and in many cases, it's very hard to close your deck lid.

I tell all Camaro people to seek out the first two versions of the WS as they are the same soft latex rubber and will let your trunk close with ease.  Last thing judges want to see in a nice car is the small cheap SS weather strip in the trunk gutter.  Does not even look correct when it's installed.

No, not Soft Seal.  The two earlier versions of the three GM versions Jerry mentions.

Where can you buy good seals? I bought the latex from HBC. It fit well but it absorbed water like a sponge. I don't think a seal should do that. The GM replacement would not let the trunk close as Jerry said.

The GM first and second design W/S still turns up on Ebay quite a bit.  I tell all of my customers who own nice cars to be patient and try to install this W/S.  Not the repro junk!

I did but it is the small cheap one JM referred to above. I have not glued it in yet so I want to get one that looks right as well.

If you get the good GM stuff, you don't have to glue it in.  Stays in there fine.  Both race cars have it and it takes a lot of abuse on the drag strip.  Even with the 7000rpm launches.
