The issue is it is very hard to shift at an idle once the 69 Camaro has run for 30 minutes plus.   It can be driven and the longer you drive the harder it is to shift back into first especially at a stop.

Does this sound like the clutch or the transmission (M20)?

I would like to have some ideas on this before having it looked at.

Is your clutch properly adjusted? You should have not less than 1" of pedal free travel from up against the rubber bumper to the point where you feel resistance (throwout bearing contacting the clutch fingers) when depressing the pedal; that's the ONLY way to properly adjust the clutch linkage.

John, thanks for the quick tip.  I'll be checking this week.

John,  the travel distance is about 1.5 to 2 inches.  Should this be adjusted down or should something else be considered?  Thanks.

I'd tweak the adjustment a little to get the pedal free travel around 1" to 1-1/4"; you won't have to push it all the way to the floor for full disengagement.
